Home page rearrangement - better or worse?

Postby Spack » Thu Nov 16, 2006 6:38 pm

I've shifted blocks around on the home page, and added a User Info block on the right, I'm happier with the look of it but I still feel it's not right. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think its a good improvement, although I'm not quite sure what all could be done to improve it more.

i like the user info panel on the left.

i prefered the News bit at the top, and the recent posts more condensed and further down. just switching them around would make me happy. :)

i think the "Welcome to Age of Strife!..." bit could do with a frame around it, to stop it being drowned out, now theres more on the front page.

everything else, i likey! :)

Cheers Tim. The news bit I felt was a bit, well, crappy, as I'm the only person who ever posts it, so there's rarely much there. I'll look at boxing the info block though, nice idea, and I'll have a think about ways to shift the news and forums around without pushing either off the top.

I was confused when I came on but it makes sense now. Keep it up!

one question: why is the avatar displayed under "user info" (right hand side of the front page) of poorer quality/lower resolution than my actual avatar (as showing perfectly fine on my profile and next to my posts)?

:?:

The Nuke block seems to resize it to a smaller image (it's 50 x 50 instead of 80 x 80). I'll see if I can fix that, hopefully it's just an img tag setting rather than an on-the-fly graphics resizing using the GD library.

UPDATE: Yep, it was the inclusion of height="50" width="50" attributes in the img tag, I've removed those and it'll show the avatar at full size now :)
