Gah, I can't get it to stop splitting on the characters in a URL like /, =, & etc

Can any help with my regexp ? So far I have:

'!([^?+=&;-_./#"]|[^a-zA-Z0-9])('.$term.')([^?+=&;-_./#"]|[^a-zA-Z0-9])!i'

where $term is the glossary word, but it seems to be ignoring the [^?+=&;-_./#"] part ...

I've disabled the glossary handling until I can figure out this regexp, it's doing my head in. It seems to be leaving the URL in the href link alone, but changing the link text that is shown. I just can't figure out what's going on.

I think I'm an idiot. | means OR - I shouldn't be ORing those two groups, I should be ANDing them! I think I've solved it, but if anyone spots any odd replacements going on please let me know.

So you figured it out? Cuz I checked you this site a while ago, and then the Glossary worked perfectly. MUCH nicer than the one on warseer.
If we have some more Words for you to add, how would you prefer receiving them? (format, PM, on forum...)

It didn't quite work before - if, for instance, a URL had ?op= in it, then the op was being replaced with a glossary tooltip for OP. I think I've now got it ignoring URLs.

As to suggesting new entries, click on the Glossary link in the forum menu (just above the topic title, between FAQ and Search), and add a reply to the thread :)

ok, sure thing. And by the way...You are doing one heck of a job on this site now. Turning out so good, and the functionallity is rapidly increasing. How you get anything else done...(work, family...) is beyond me...

Thank you.

Cheers for the votes of confidence :) I thought I might as well start sorting things out - after all, if the forums don't work well then there's not much point in people posting here.

As to getting other stuff done, it's what I do - I sort of multitask at work, being the sole IT person responsible for a multi-million pound turnover tends to get your mind able to work on more than one thing at a time :P

I hear ya, being a webdesigner in a large company (the only one) kind of puts me in a similar situation. Working on several sites at the same time, and doing illustration work and graphic design stuff aswell...
Nuff said...great work. Keep it up. I will try to get my own gallery started pretty soon too, I will for sure keep using this site regularly, and is now one of the first sites I check out in the morning.

ive spotted a problem with the Glossary (more specifically, the way it changes text in posts).
i tried to type this in a post:
Code: Select all
...it doesnt work like that (unless the MC is Locked in CC) - you use a WYSIWYG "model's eye view"...

but it came out like this instead:
"...it doesnt work like that (unless the MC is Locked in CC) - you use a WYSIWYG "model's eye view"..."

notice how the bracket after CC disapears.

can this be fixed?

~ Tim
p.s. testing:
EDIT: yeah, this is another problem:
Code: Select all
C:SM

comes up as C:SM, which can look like CSM.

OK, sorted it. Hopefully that'll do for now, I'm new to this regular expression malarky :P
