I thought i'd give GW a ring to see if they know how to get spare DE weapons, but they weren't sure as to whether the DE Warrior product that used to come with the blaster and shredder is still available. From their website and every other online site i've been too (including ebay) i guess not.

Ring mail order directly. They can sometimes find stuff that isn't listed online or in catalogues. They did this for me a while back with rogue trader era inquisitors.

I went to the local and the dude there didn't have any answers. Apparently if it isn't on the site, it ain't available (sorry sir, your name's not on the list).

On the plus side (for GW's coffers!) I bought some Wyches.

Is the Wych Lord a separate figure? I note the entry prohibits you from fielding a separate dark lord, but todes that just mean you use the regular dark lord, just listed as a wych lord.

And why don't they just sell all the wyches complete? Seems silly to have some complete and others not.

GW staff don't know what the mail order staff can and can't do - ring the mail order team and ask them direct.

As to a Wych Lord, that's an Archite (Archon = male Lord, Archite = female Lord ... er Lady .. :?) Model wise there is not a specific Archite - the GW store only has (and has ever had) 2 Dark Eldar Lord models listed at present as an Archon and a Dracon. You can certainly use your existing Lord figure as an Archite/Dracite if you wish.

You can have either an Archon, or an Archite - but you cannot have both in the same army. Taking an Archite, or having a Dracite lead your army (which also means no Archons or Drachons, as per the sidebar on that page) allows access to a different FOC structure (Wyches as troops, warrior and raider squads are elites). A Wych Lord has Wych weapons as standard, but can be armed with anything from the armoury just like an Archon/Drachon, but can also take Wych retinue (and cannot take a normal Darkl Eldar retinue).

I don't understand the last question though. What's not complete about your Wyches?

Nothing is incomplete. However you have to assemble about half of them while the rest are complete. I don't get why they just didn't manufacture them all complete.

oh, you mean that some are multi-piece models while others are one-piece? thats just determined by the poses of the models (and the limitations of mould making). the more directions the model goes in, the more pieces are needed for the moulds, so often those pieces are just cut off the master model and cast as separate parts. a relatively flat model could just be one piece, but if it had its arm sticking straight forward (for example), chances are that arm will be made as a separate piece.

hope that helps :)

Yeah, Tim has it there - it's a limitation of the moulding process, in that the moulds need to be removable in one piece. If you look at all the single cast metal models they are quite "flat" looking. While the rubber moulds allow a bit of flexibility, they still pretty much require a 2.5D pattern to be cut into them (2.5D being a 3D shape with no undercuts).
