Soul Grinder Needs A Good Home

Postby Talus » Wed Oct 06, 2010 9:35 am

In my bi weekly rummage through pc techs kits, i picked up a soul grinder (along with a deamon prince and a deff dread), now, the sad part is, the more i look at the box of this grinder, the more i think how totally disgusting its head is, which is putting me right off painting it.

the kit is brand new, its only the celefane (typo there?) thats been taken off, everything is still on the sprue, and it comes with the instructions.

it's up for grabs if anyone wants to make an offer

or i'll take a trade for a space marine dreadnought (standard or iron clad, im not picky :) )

this wont be on ebay either since my tollerance for that site is now non existant, got ripped off by a guy selling rogue trader marines...

anyway, =bangs hammer on desk=

let the bidding begin!

How much are these normally anyway?

I couldn't get whether that was rhetoricall, I'll assume not and try to help :D
£37 new.
Roughly £18 2nd hand, 35ish if painted decently (/pro by ebays def)
They don't seem to have been hit too hard by the recent everyone-only-buying-sacks-of-dirt pricing drop on ebay.

Where as AOBR dreads go for around £5, if painted by someone with more skill than an 8year old.
If OP doesn't know assualt on black reach dreads have a low slung coffin(/higher legs axle) which makes modding the joints at torso much harder, they also only come with Multimelta and closecomabt weapon (you don't get all the arms)..(the shoulder joints are also slightly slimmer so FW and old dread arms are loose.. although not a problem if your gluing him or going to permenantly change its dimensions).
Basically he's offering what you want, just be aware that as a cheaper variant certain mods you might be planning are considerably harder.. nothing wrong with AOBR dreads..I have 3 of them :D But there is a significant difference in value.

BUT if its just the head.. have you considered going through someones bitz box and grabbing a fantasy dragons head.. a lot of the early soul grinder/brass scropians made by folks before the GW kit used them and looked really nice.
Barely even lurking..

im familiar with black reach, and im more than familiar with dreads on a whole, like i've said in another post i have 9 including a rogue trader one (ugly thing, but worth it)

i usually convert them with sentinel legs and extend the close combat arm using the original dread piston legs, i call them Juggernaughts :)

pro-tip, dont attempt with the old metal ven dread, totally top heavy and not worth the headache (tried it, failed, had to rebuild legs with lots of greenstuff and plasticard, looks awful, will be scrapping it soon)

as i said before, the kits brand new, its just the wrapper thats been taken off, everything inside is untouched. but with the wrapper off i guess i really should call it second hand...
