Wanted: Static Grass

Postby LordMalekTheRedKnight » Wed Aug 06, 2008 12:13 am

Hey all :)

could anyone who is coming to WHW spare me a pinch or two of static grass? i want to try a fur effect on some WHFB spiders (from the BFSP set), but i dont want to buy a whole bag as i wont need it for anything else. litterally a teaspoon full will do.

anyone able to help?

cheers :)

~ Tim
p.s. i will be bringing all my SM Transfers with me - if anyone needs some, just see me on the day. :)

You may be better off with the moss stuff. I have seen that and grass used on Elder Pathfinder capes to indicate their camo ability.

Try some sawdust glued onto the spider just like you would do with sand for a model base. Let it dry then paint as normal. You can try a local woodworking shop for the sawdust, they'll probably give it away for free.

cheers for the suggestions guys :)

i had seen the static grass fur effect on a Dire Wolf in WD (IIRC), and ive always wanted to try to replicate it. ive just won some BFSP Spiders on eBay, and i will need to cover the flat part of the body where the rider normally sits, so i thought this would be the ideal time. if anyone does have some to spare, please let me know. otherwise i will try to get some sawdust next time i pick up some board from the wood shop.

cheers :)

it's right next to my marine cases waiting to go :)

I need to start putting everything together tonight to give me enough time to remember things I have forgotten.

@ TIM - There's an article here on librarium online http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/ ... suits.html about modelling gilli suits. I can't find the link to the GW site they were talking about, but the are some pictures of a model someone did of a ranger using greenstuff to texture it. Might give you an idea or two for your spiders.
Barring that, the stuff here http://www.gf9.com/store/index.php?cPat ... =3a&page=2 static grass #92003 looks like it is what you want. If you can't find it, I have some, just need to send it to you.
