Maybe I should do more planning ahead...(Quarter 2 Project)

Postby Baragash » Sun Jan 10, 2010 7:02 pm

So assembled the units for the Fantasy Doubles tournament this year, and the Disc for the rider (the rider is proving a bit more inconvenient :banghead time to get the pins out):

Image

Haven't got a second Disc rider yet as my local store were out so I had to order online (needed some bases anyway, so at least it kicks me over the free delivery level).

The Knights are a decent kit IMO, but too many bits to put together got a bit boring.

The Marauder horsemen are, fantastic, I'm really glad I bought a second box to put a flail unit together.

Hopefully get the 11 models based tonight, plus at least my Tomb Prince's chariot.....

....I want to go to Wrath of Nagash, if there's tickets left, with the themed Khemri list. Downside is I have 2 months to paint 2250 of Tomb Kings. Up side is it's Chariot heavy, and the 1700pts I've decided on so far is only 20 models!

Good start. I think I'm also about to order 2 boxes of marauder horsemen from gaming figures. Looking at warseer, the preferred config seems to be 6 with flails and MoS (or are you going with MoK?). Shame there are not 6 to a box!

My only problem now is undercoating as spray paint + zero degrees is not good! Will have to clear a space in the loft (which fortunately I had windows installed in).

As for Wrath of Nagash...

Tomb Kings of Khemri - event themed list

  • Tomb Princes get increased to 2D6 power level, Settra decreased to 2D6 power level and Settra is only a single Lord choice.
  • All models have a 6+ Regeneration save
  • Characters - Settra, Tomb Princes, Icon Bearer
  • Core - Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Light Cavalry, 0-1 Tomb Swarm, Skeleton Chariots
  • Special - Tomb Guard, Skeleton Heavy Cavalry
  • Rare - Screaming Skull Catapult, Sphynx

Sphynx rules haven't been revealed yet, so obviously planning without it.

War Party - a legal 1250 force

Tomb Prince 203
(Chariot, Brooch of the Great Desert, Collar of Shapesh, Light Armour, Great Weapon, Shield)
3 Chariots 190
(Musician, Standard, Mirage Standard)
Tomb Prince 201
(Chariot, Chariot of Fire, Golden Eye of Rah-nutt, Light Armour, Great Weapon)
3 Chariots 150
(Musician, Standard)
1 Screaming Skull Catapult 90
16 Heavy Horsemen 316
(Full Command, Banner of the Undying Legion)
Icon Bearer 100
(Skeleton Steed, Light Armour, War banner)

29 models to paint

Hammerblow - 1000 points to add to the War Party and be a legal 2250 force

Settra 625
3 Chariots 150
(Musician, Standard)
1 Screaming Skull Catapult 90
3 Tomb Swarms 135

11 models to paint

How are you prepped for the final.. have your CSM seen more love or are you switching out?
It has always been the prerogative of half-wits and fools to point out the Emperor has no clothes, but the Emperor remains the Emperor, and the half-wit remains a half-wit.-The Sandman (The friendly ones)

Sticking with the list. I need to repair the Oblits from where I knocked them off the table, and I'm going to try and dabble round the edges on bits I didn't paint as a break from drybrushing skeletons, but otherwise they'll be hibernating until March :)

2 Chariot units (except for 4 of the crew as crew are a pain to clean up mould lines from), 1 Prince, Icon Bearer, 8 of the Cavalry, 1 Tomb Swarm :)

Strangely enough I have been painting Tomb Kings Chariot skeletal Horses (mostly as I am in skeletal mode with other figs) and they were already primed so ready for the bone washes!

No, they are all bone tired.

Oh no, stop it before it's too late.

Baragash - are you going for the GW colour scheme (turquoise) or something else?

(Emphasis mine) If that was intentional I compliment you on your dry humour ;)

mattjgilbert wrote:Baragash - are you going for the GW colour scheme (turquoise) or something else?

Regal blue is the "grunts" colour, and I'm sticking to the GW dark red as the "royal" colour (characters, tomb guard and chariots).

If I'm lucky, the other 8 Horsemen are already assembled in a storage box, if I'm unlucky, the idea that I own another 8 is purely a figment of my imagination :bduh
(I'm sure I do though as IIRC I planned a maxed out unit from the start back when the rules were 4 models per rank, because a War Bannered US32, Fear-causing cavalry charge was good value).

Look nice Baragash, those chariots really are to die for.
Shame about all those mouldy lines to remove, maybe the bones weren't cast that well.
Will the dark red color be a scar red, because blood red would be too bright? Blood red highlights should really make the bones pop.
Looking forward to seeing them bones them bones them dry bones all finished.
Then your sweet chariots can swing low into battle!
