Socaddict's Random workings

Postby Socaddict » Sat Mar 06, 2010 2:02 am

thought I'd get this log started.

Not sure what I'm getting together army wise, orks have always been my "build what I feel like and see how it works out" army.

So far, though -

To Build:
8 lootas
Lots of nobz (got three more from the normal box to build, and more to build from black orcs, plus AoBR)
10 Stormboyz
3 Killa Kans
Loads of boyz
10 grots
6 AoBR deffkoptas

Building:
Count as Ghazkull made from the resin Khador warjack kit: gallery2.php?g2_itemId=31300

Built:
8 stormboyz:
Image
1 Trukk
1 Battlewagon
Various metal models (Shokk attack gun big mek, KFF big mek, etc etc)

PiP:
AoBR Ork boss (almost done)
some nobz

I'll update this thread with pics as things get built and painted.

The storm boyz are nice models aren't they? Good idea for Ghazkull

What clan are you painting (so what colours will this lot be)?

some of the best detailed recent kits they've done; the stormboyz, i think.

yes, so will it be red, black or yellow over all on the colour scheme, or something completely different.

Sexy.. although how you can be orky and only have 6 deffcopta (deffcoptem, deffcoptarrrz, deffcoptee? ) is beyond me :D (I have 12 undercoated waiting for my ork enthusiasm to pick up again.....last chunk of enthusiasm was a awesome gift from Taumaul..which I still haven't done justice to.
I might have to start an orky blog race with you to spur myself on :D

Could be a laugh, but this is going to be more of an "update when I feel like it" rather than "now its started I'm working hard on it"

BA next month, and they will get some mega love from then.

Paint wise its going to be something of a non specific clan colour, slightly Goffy leanings (tendency towards black, bit of red, dags and checks in a small amounts).

Lemme dig out some painted models to photograph.

Cool work. I keep having a hankering to do orks. I love all that flesh tone for painting and the distressed metals for the vehicles is a modeller and painters dream! Good luck with the force pal - loving the warjack Gaz.

Some examples of painted and part painted models:

Warboss and nobz:
Image

Warboss needs a few final touches, right arm is magnetised, as is base. One of the nobz needs a head done, both arms are magnetised, so I can make up the most appropriate weapon combo. Both still need somethign for their backs.

Older ork boyz:
Image

Before the washes came out, I used inks. I like the not so consistent skin tone. But the shininess annoys me.

AoBR boyz:
Image

more up to date skin tone. Gretchin green base, thraka green wash, ogryn flesh wash, second thraka green wash.
More consistent, idea of how i want my current boyz to be painted, skin tone wise. Noticeable shade difference between boyz and nobz/bosses - nobz/bosses use a base of knarloc green instead.

AoBR nob:

Painted for the AoS painting comp, just never quite got it done in time.

Jut something I thought I would throw in for fun.

Pictures with flash are available in gallery2.php?g2_itemId=31331

More wajack boss pics - I've added some more glyph plates, a big shoota to the left hand, and some more arm armour made from black orc shields, and some horns:

So what have I been doing with my lazy Sunday?

Well, I've been very lazy when it comes to warhammer, got most of a box of kans put together, and thats been about it:

Image

Going for a real sense of flailing about movement with them.

The intention is to have three units of two, each unit having two of the same weapon - two rokkit, two grotzookas, two big shootas.

Loving the kit.

I did also run a 10k race this morning, ran it in just under 54 minutes, was expecting to run it in 57, so am very pleased with myself.

Ordered it from the ebay seller 4tk gaming, and its from privateer press' warmachine range - http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/khador/warjacks/juggernaut

It was £18. I did end up with several spare sets of arms and heads from the kit, and it was rather easy to convert. The Cygnar warjacks might work quite nicely too.

Make sure you pick up one of the plastic (actually resin) kits, as they're much easier to convert and orkify than the metal figures.

It will be played using either Ghazkull mag Uruk Thraka's rules, or possible as a killa kan.
