Howdy!

Postby Baragash » Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:08 pm

Hmm.....this is almost like when the leaving cards come round at work....what do I say?!

Lessee now....

Started WHFB in '93, 40k in '95, played a lot of the Specialist games, worked GW stores for 4.5 years, got far too much stuff I don't need, you know the score!

My armies are a bit of a mess at the moment as real life interfered (I'm nearly finished qualifying as a Managment Accountant, study takes place in my "leisure" time).

Working on Chaos Space Marines mostly *insert generic rant regarding the current edition, although I don't think 3.5 was the bees nees either*

WHFB is on hold. The HE book (that's what I started with back in '93) is a major disappointment and TK are a while off, so I may well be sucked in by the gorgeous shots of Chaos Lords I'm seeing for Mortals.

Joined here after the GW forums went down, didn't realise I'd never posted. I visit here mostly to read the rules discussions - because the level of maturity in the way it's approached is head and shoulders above anywhere else.

Will probably drop some pics into the painting forum.

So....yeah....hi! :D

Welcome to the site. So, where in the World do you live then?

AdrianG, that comment is even more fitting considering I watched Gremlins 2 this afternoon (hell, that film has aged badly).

Hmm, I might have been in there while you were working there then. I've lived in Brum since 1997, prior to that I lived in Wolves for a few years and got to know the 2 store managers during that time. I tried not to go to the Brum GW store too often, although I popped in from time to time when going to the Square Peg :)

Ah, the Peg 8) . Used to be our pre-Academy staging post if we were off to Ramshackle.

Actually, this seems like as good a place as any: does AoS have an image uploader? I notice some of the posts in the Painting forum appear to have uploaded image codes in them, seems the easiest way to post pics.....

Welcome Baragash!
Your comment about the rules discussion is the reason I post here and not on other more, shall we say 'argumentative' sites. You'll enjoy the people and banter here. Kind of like an "online pub" (though you do have to 'bring your own' )
Looking forward to seeing your models. Always nice to steal, erm see, new ideas! 8)
Oh, the bit about not feeding the members, it's not so much about when or what you feed them, but more about what their choice of food might be

Hi Baragash, and welcome to the (posting part of) site. :)

now then, flattery will get you everywhere. ;)

I used to go to the Academy when it was the Hummingbird, I've only been there since it was the Academy for one club night and it was, to put it mildly, crap. Much preferred XLs (before it all got partitioned), and later Gallows and Edwards No 8 (now sadly no more due to the fire, but at least Eddies lives on a Sat night at the Newt).

You can attach pics direct to posts, but this is limited to small file sizes and has a low per user quota. A much better idea is to use the Gallery, just click the drop down admin menu at the top right and create your member album and you can upload pics to there, and even sort them and organise them into sub-albums. There's a much higher per member quota in the Gallery, and under the pics you can click the URLs link to display the BBCode and HTML tags you can use in this and other forums to include them in the posts. This also lets you put the pics where you want in the posts - the attachment method puts all the pics at the end of the post.

You might also want to read this: http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php? ... opic&t=114 ;)

 I think there is a secret demographic here, a rivaling for whose jobs are the majority (matt spack and I must assume at least one other are IT ish) But you'd be the third accountant on here.
We might actually have to have a "what is it your real guy face does poll"to see if you lot are "winning".
Welcome to the site..you know so much about us...I think all lurkers who start posting should start with 3000 words on "why you guys are so awesome that I finally decided to post"
