cheers mate :)

hehe they have all already had 2 thick coats of gloss varnish. :P

timewizard wrote:The test model, ever thought of just stripping it and then giving it the same paint job as the rest of the squad?

well it was supposed to have the same paint job - i guess i was just a bit more generous with the blue glaze this time round.

i hadnt considered stripping him (although i have been considering making a new base for him - that one was done with rubbish PVA glue, before i bought the stuff i now use). i dont have anything for stripping plastics, and it would probably cost me more to buy some than it would cost me for a 2nd hand drone.

thanks for the suggestion though. :)

i might just end up leaving him as he is anyway - makes it easy to decide which model is first to go when the squad takes casualties. :P

cheers

You could always stick a couple of whisps of cotton wool on either side of the stabilizer to indicate a model that is experiencing some "minor stealth field fluctuations"

Only my Star Wars (501st inspired) marines. Currently, the 'done' pile consists of:
My Whirlwind and Landraider swappsies.
One Landspeeder Typhoon.
Two assault squads (x10)
3 x 10 man Tactical squads (flamer/Heavy bolter)
1 x 10 man veteran squad
1 x chaplain
1 x Librarian

Oh, and a stack of terrain for my club (we had to relocate and the community centre claimed our old stuff as "donated" - didn't help that we had nothing in the form of receipts to prove ownership) so we need a stack of it.

They have two 50l storage crates of my stuff on (extended) loan and I'm teaching them to make more.

I'm going to resurrect my plans on making an Armoured Battlegroup army...well it was an AC army, but I now have a lot of IST's in Chimeras sitting around doing nothing since I shelved my DH minis (GW's lack of love for them has finally beaten me down), so I'm using them as my Armoured Fists Squads.
Can anyone tell me how different the Mars Pattern Leman Russes are compared to the standard ones...is it just the Turrets or the Hull as well. I want to order the Engine Filters and the Trench Rails from FW but want to know if they'll fit the standard Russ.

I'm gunning for 3K so it'll be compatible with all the other Gamer's Apoc lists, and the AB list is a lot more friendly than the AC one, and fits into the narrative setting more readily.

IA-DKK-T-005 trench rails
IA-DKK-T-004 engine filters

both look like they are meant to just fit onto a standard russ hull. The main filter part looks like it should fit into where the engine-bay grille goes (should, as FW stuff does have a rep of being slightly smaller due to resin shrinking more than plastic.). The other bits go on the sides and rear of the engine compartment.

The Mars Alpha Russ hull is different. It's more slab-like and has less shot-trap angularity. durrets are different as well.

Just based off the pics on the FW site.

Yea the Filters shouldn't be a problem, it's just the Trench Rails I'm iffy about. FW sell a Mars Pattern conversion kit so that sort of tells me that the Rails won't fit a standard Russ, although the pic's do show that they should.

I should just ring FW and ask. Some of my mates just said to order the complete kits, but that's a hell of a lot dearer than buying the 10 boxed set and the parts seperately.

The cat #s I gave were for the separate rails that should fit a standard russ hull.

At the moment:
Fantasy Sorcerer for a limited pallet challenge
CSM Army
Doom Mortar (painting)
Plague Tower & Silver Tower (converting)
Chaos Militia for a To4G (although it's 7) blog

By the looks of it, Warriors of Chaos will be joining the list....
