Which Army?

Postby curly » Wed Dec 26, 2007 10:58 pm

Hi Dads back again!
I got my son the Battle for Macragge set and in the process of both of us building the set up. Great fun I must say!
Went to a local Wargames club as well last week, and very helpful they were to. Gave my son 10 Space Marines to build and paint. So thats his army sorted. Not mine!
I like the look of the Tau's as they have a Piranha (and thats the fish I keep!) or the Necron's look good also.
Your views please. I have based these two just on looks to be honest. So any advice will be welcome.

Looks is the main reason people get started on an army, but for your 1st army Necrons are good. They have fewer weapon and unit options so easier to understand and less mistakes to make. Also due to their high point cost you will not need so many models to be bought to field a certain army size.. They were also my 1st army and I have some still for sale.

I am also a dad, and used to have a pirahna - with only one eye -
called Percy 'the one eyed' Pirahna :P

Percy Piranha, like it! I have a Manueli, Maculatus, Black Diamond Rhom and a Peru Rhom. Pity they all have to go into seperate tanks!
What have you got left of your Necrons and how much for them please?

I have the troops (Warriors) and Immortals, Destroyers, Heavy Destroyers, Wraiths, and some flayed ones I think. All made, and most painted to a good sandard.

Make me a sensible offer ;)

To be honest, I'm so new to this I don't know what they are worth! Better to say a figure (and include post please).
Still building, wife has put a stop to undercoating indoors so will have to wait until she is out! Having fun though.

If I've worked this out right, that army comes to around £250! Far too much for me straight after xmas.
I'll have to wait and see what I like after my son has played a few games. Liking the look of Chaos Marines now!

Curly, I've listed some of the more specialist units on ebay now... :) so there's only the core stuff now.

Warriors
Immortals
Destroyers
Scarabs

I've also made a post or two on some other forums also, but if I can't sell them this time round, I can see my buying a lnew Lord and Monolith andkeeping them as a small 1500point force to play with occassioanly.

So let me know if there's anything at all... and that goes to anyone else also. The ones on ebay are marked in out gallery.

Good luck with the sale. I still don't know what to get. My mates wife is collecting a tyranid army which looks good and he said if I get one then with my sons SM and his vs his wifes and my tyranids, we could have an awesome battle!
I'm going to our local wargames club on the 12th so I'll have a look round and speak to some people.

No probs Curly. You sound like me when I started. It's very hard finding an army that your happy with 1st attempt anyways. That's why I had 6 armies at one time, which I'm presently thinning down to approx three at the moment.

If you can resist the temptation to rush in you'll have a better chance at getting it right. ;) gl.
