Yay!, they're fab- yuo have 3 months and £10 to make an armoured company :)
How are folks around you responding to them?
I remember a rules thread on warseer where we ended up figuring we could get round some pedantic folks if we filled the models with ground up spru (so that they were 80% GW :) ).
My\Our group loves Mr6s homemades- as long as he actually knows the rules for them ;)
Barely even lurking..

That's amazing Morty. I can't wait to see it complete and painted up.

Well I did get the tracks done - but I'm ashamed to say that I again whimped out of using plasticard for the 'wheels'

They were cut out of cardboard freehand around the templates, and were incredibly fiddly to assemble, position and mount.

The basic tracks is also applied and this has given it track and wheel assembly the rigidity and strength I was after - so its all good :D

Still the exhausts to do and fit on top of the vents.

The reception in the local GW has been very positive, though I won't be able to field it until its fully painted - still haven't decided it I'm going to use it for my Tzeentch or Deamon Hunters army yet?

On the subject of painting it - it will get done at some point but not necessarily in the near future :( ...I'm having too much fun scratchbuild stuff to be painting!

Excellent work!
For the exhausts I'd consider using stuff from the bits box. They would be very fiddly to make yourself.

So, thanks for all the suugestions for the exhausts - some really good ideas there, unfortunately I'd already completed them before your posts - I just used plasticard rod of varying diameter to represent them.

I also added a bit of detailing on the tracks to give the impression of treads being present.

Did I tiny bit of green stuff filler work

FINISHED!

apologies for the 'shaky' photo - I'll see if I can get another with a 'genuiene' Rhino next to it for size comparison.

Could you get a pin vice and drill holes in the exhausts?

Some scratch built scrolls and purity seals would work well ;)

wouldnt that be incredibly tricky to do on a curved surface?

actually, i reckon proper GW bits would compliment this nicely (which was what i meant Re: Storm Bolter etc). with GW details added, it would make it even harder to tell this apart from the real thing! :D

wouldnt the tip of the drill slip easily from the desired point of contact? :?
(i admit i havent used my Pin Vice yet, so it may be a lot easier than i fear...)
or would you use the tip of a knife blade to make a small indentation to stop the drill slipping?

Use a bradawl to make a pilot dent for the drill bit to bite into.

Of course the plastic needs holding pretty firmly to drill it.

Haven’t applied the Storm bolter / Smoke launchers / Havoc Launchers yet – simply because I haven’t decided if I should use it for an Imperial or Chaos army.

I’ve no plans (as of yet) to detail the exhausts – however if I were to do it –I’d do it this way for precision:

Image

Flat piece of thin plasticard cut to size to wrap around the exhaust, whilst flat drill out the holes, then cut along dotted lines and then glue in place
