WHW Feb Apoc Game #1 - Loyalist thread

Postby mattjgilbert » Mon Dec 15, 2008 4:18 pm

This thread is for me, BDA, AdrianG and Spack to discuss our forces for the Apoc game we are playing on the Saturday.

Rules
1. 4 players per side
2. 3000 points per player
3. 0-2 Super Heavies per side
4. 0-1 Flyers per side BDA will have an Eldar Hunter

mattjgilbert - Ultramarines
BDA - Eldar
AdrianG - Space Puppies
Spack - DK

Dan - you are our FW supplier... what have you got or what do you suggest we can take for our super heavy choices? What about the flyer? (I am assuming we want to take some :D)

0-2 Super Heavy? :(
0-1 Flyers? :(

Well that scuppers me then :P

You can see what I own here: http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php? ... opic&t=227

As to a flyer for the loyalist side, there are a few choices:

Eldar Vampire Raider - super heavy, lots of guns, transport for 30 (or 20 if using Pulsars - S D :) - instead of the normal weapons).

Eldar Phoenix - fighter bomber, hard to kill due to shields, has brightlance + phoenix missile launchers + scatter lasers.

Thunderbolt - heavy fighter, mainstay of the Imp Navy. Autocannons, lascannons, and optional hellstrikes.

Lightning - light fighter, I've got the Strike variant (lots of hellstrikes) but could add an autocannon easily enough for the Attack variant.

Vulture - cheap gunship, lots of weapon options (currently fitted with 2 x lascannons, 2 x rocket pods, and nose heavy bolter, but I've got plenty of other weapons I can swap on to the wing mounts).

Valkyrie - transport, only worth taking if it's carrying troops as otherwise the Vulture is a better choice.

KMB: I'm assuming that little kid is a Chaos worshipper then? :)

I might not have "Super" Heavies, but I do have a few of the Formations... Including that rather nice (now) Tarantula force :D

Ans as for the Infiltrating Chaos Skum... I'll take some scouts with sniper rifles and some with a heavy weapon. :)
3k points is kinda small to what I'm used to playing, but I'm sure I can adapt accordingly :P

Spack: You won't my Macharius then?

Your farseer is myopic!!!

This large print is deemed necessary, as corrective runes are required.

The Vampire has SD Heavy 2 5" Blast, or if I take it as a Hunter version then it has a twin linked version.

Or I have a Shadowsword (Armorcast version) and Stormblade (FW/GW) which both are more than capable of taking down a Warhound.

Or failing that, how about a Warhound? I've got a Chaos model, but we could run it using the Loyalist rules (plasma blastgun and vulcan megabolter) ;) Assuming it's not my Warhound that they're hoping to use on the Chaos side :P

hehe, no KBM has his own scratch-built one. I like the idea of the Hunter. And I think one terminus is a must - any more and we might not have any points left!

If BDA takes the Hunter, how many points of his 3000 does he have left?

What are you taking Dan (as a faction)? IG...DKoK?

I think I'll take the DK, although I might field them using more generic IG doctrines. To make 3000pts I'll have to bring a few tanks though ;)

The Hunter is 730pts.

I'll have a look what marine formations might be nice and see if I can make up any or whether the SW and UM can do some between them.

Lots of tanks is good :) Especiallly if one is a super heavy :D

Is the Vampire counting against Super Heavy, Flyer, or both? It's a Super Heavy Flyer after all ...

As to tanks, I can bring along at least one Emperor's Fist Tank Company, and back that up with a Super Heavy with no problem.

If you need to borrow any SM stuff, just give me a shout. I've got 5 Land Raiders (1 LRC, 1 LR Mk3, 1 LR Mk1, 1 LR Spartan conversion, 1LR/Prometheus magnetised sponsons), a few land speeders, 2 x Whirlwind, Damocles, couple of rhino/razorbacks, and plenty of termies.

Actually, if anyone needs to borrow anything, I'll try to sort out a summary of everything I own and I'll be happy to bring anything along that might be useful.

If we take a thunderhawk (conscripts) as a flyer.. you are certainly allowed a heavy flyer as a flyer :D
I might need a landraider and that defiler might fill up a formation. (but its early days yet not confirmed)

Hmmm.. I might borrow the whirlwinds off you as it's unlikely I'll have got any more by then. My LR will be done and we have the SW terminus. We might have enough tanks by then what with your Tank Company!

I'm off to get the apoc and reload books....
