Step by step guide, maybe, looks great!

Step by step was pretty much what I said, black prime, hammered copper, verdigris overall.
Still have to buff it a bit, that tones the verdigris down some.
Will post pics later when it's finished.

Yeah but that is French built so the usual rules don't apply.

That and its a copper skin over a frame rather than a solid statue and.... I shall stop there.

I suppose it is the kind of statues you are used to..

I had actually tried out the color scheme on some SM figures for a building I'm working on.
I painted the first in bronze and applied the verdigris. Wasn't happy with the result. The bronze undertones came out looking wrong.
Then I tried the Vallejo hammered copper, and I liked the effect.
With the verdigris coating it looks more like a bronze statue.

Because verdigris is copper oxide and vertigris is what statues get if they are too high up and they don't like it. 8O

Bit of an update.
Here's a shot of the back of the statue with vertigris added;
Image

And here I've got the base painted and washed, but I'm not really happy with the result.
Image

I think a statue like this should have an impressive stone base. Something like this;
Image

So putting together some left over Hirst art blocks, I have a squared off base like so;

Or one with more decorative corners like this;

I think I like the second one better. Thoughts?

Then I just have to razor saw the statue off it's pedestal, glue up and finish the stone base and I'll have (hopefully) and rather impressive terrain piece. :D

Thanks stunty. I don't have a lot of room, so I try to make terrain pieces that can be stored fairly easily. My game table gets set up when needed. I guess we can't all be lucky enough to have a game dedicated structure, can we Matt.

EDIT:Have no idea how this got posted before stunty. Weird stuff going on!

I agree the 2nd is better.. possibly add some chips and weathering to it too?
I actually like how this is turning out.. be nice to see it on one of your boards when complete?

I quite like your terrain blogs.. Its a side of the hobby I've always really liked but due to space in this house I cant have a gaming table so no need for it (altho I do have some bits)

I agree on the 2nd one.

I do like the base it comes with though - it's a nice marble effect you have. I should look good on top of the stone one.

I'd suggest, based on the condition of the statue, it's been there a while so the bases should be suitably weathered. And the verdigris should have run down and stained patches on the base too I'd have thought.
