Interesting topic:
http://www.1stcompanyveterans.net/forum ... f=25&t=357

Starts off about historicals but further reading seems to indicate it applies to all non-GW models, so a heads up for anyone that uses non-GW models that you might get hassled.

Good grief they are shooting themselves in the foot again.

On one hand you can say it's their place, their rules, their games they want to promote.

But they are the ones always going on about "the hobby". Well that hobby involves more than just GW even if they don't like it. They really are becoming less and less a company for gamers (all the real gamers who worked for them have left it seems and are working for their own companies with a focus on...wait for it... fellow gamers).

So with the other hand
*facepalm*

Well I think they have someone in WHW who is trying to make a name for themselves with their "business acumen".

I actually don't mind being charged a little bit to use the venue, and I can also get on board with no non-GW games/ranges, but clamping down on every singe model is just being a pratt.

Is 'lenton' a GW store?
Just curious because in the event it really doesn't matter.
As Matt says, they are shooting themselves in the foot, big time!
I'm all the way over here, but FWIW, I think you all should change the venue from WHW to another gaming hall.
Judging by the posts, you probably have a number of alternate venues to choose from.
Then a consideration might be a letter penned off to GW announcing that at least one group won't be frequenting WHW in future.
So no revenue for Bugmans, nothing for the hotel, no impulse buys at the GW store.
They are really becoming penny wise and dollar foolish!

Lenton is the area of Nottingham where GW are based.

1st company on thursday night at WHW (frog and LH were members for a brief while, in lenton, nottingham (not to be confused with nottingham, GW -store in the centre).

If this is seen by them (1stCV)as the tit, what was the tat? I thought they were having a beef about fire regulation name checks a couple of years back, but thats a V slow backlash.. (troll face ,totally not meant, tongue in cheek etc;) can we blame 1stCV for this clamping down? (scan read thread with one eye closed and FOW came up a lot in pages)
Barely even lurking..

From what I understand there's a new bod in events & this is his wacky idea.

I can see the point of charging for large groups wanting tables.

I can understand wanting to keep tables free for drop in games.

I can see the point of them not wanting non-GW models at GW.

However, it's come across really badly in that small groups (by which I would define 20 or less) are effectively told to get lost, and conversions seem to be frowned upon (by a strict ruling of the non-GW ethos).

Most of my IG tanks have non-GW accessories, gun barrels etc, so are they not allowed? Or how about someone with Penitent Engines based on warjacks but with GW weapons attached & converted to be fully "40k'd" up?

That's not what is prohibited in my understanding of their RAI, they're after the full army of perry miniatures etc. But trust GW to write rules where the RAW =/= RAI.

Until they fix the conundrum, people won't go & if they go somewhere else, it may be that they like somewhere else better...

I find it interesteing that the same company that chooses to ban non GW models, is the very same company that has yet to release or manufacture many models for many different codex armies.
Want to field a Swarmlord or Doom in your force? Go ahead, they're listed in the codex. Oh, but that's a non-GW model you've got there so we're going to ban you.
Bull!
