AoS event: November 2011 - who's interested?

Postby mattjgilbert » Sun Mar 27, 2011 8:15 pm

Maelstrom gaming venue, 5/6 November 2011

We'll use this thread to gauge interest in this event. Please indicate if you will be attending and also what you'd like to do on the weekend. Previous AoS events have seen us at WHW running a 40K doubles tournament on the Saturday and then just pickup games and maybe Apoc on the remaining day(s). However, this not being a GW venue we could not only change the tournament (should we want one) but also play some different games too (FoW, KoW etc.)

I'll collate ideas and names in this opening post as people reply.

Should be attending
mattjgilbert (Matt)
Stunty (Andy)
Spack (Dan)
KInG (Nige)
Baragash (Sami)
Herne (Stu)
DaBoss (Phil)
Taumaul (Gav)

killmaimburn (Toby)
da_grot (?)
Confused_gordy (Gordon)

I think a 40K tournament is still a good idea for the Saturday. However, do we think that we could run a singles event instead of a doubles in just 1 day (3 games)? That's my concern...3 games might be too short for a singles event. However, it's a friendly event and it's not like we are trying to find a world 40K champion so it should be OK.

I'd like to play some Kings of War games on the Sunday/Monday too.

My other concern is finding the storage in the car to bring armies for 2 game systems!

I'd be up for 40K singles tourney on the one day, although I'll have to confirm closer to the time. Think some of our lads would like to do some kind of FOW thing on the other day, if any of the frothing down the club today is an indicator. (Honestly - it's obscene!) Don't play it myself, but might be interested in some games of KoW if I can borrow some models off the lads.

Count me in.
I like the idea of doing a Singles Tournament on the Saturday (I would assume 3 games as you need 2.5 hours each).
On the Sunday, I'd like to a pick game of FoW or 2, or even finally a game of KoW.

Yes to all. Singles tourney and fow for me.

I was at maelstrom at the weekend. They can stay open till 2 am. So the singles might be able to do 4 games in a single day.

It's Mansfield. Dustbins are nicer than most establishments out there... The motorway services are likely to at least be clean.

I'm up for it. Hopefully the wife will not be crazy this time & I'll be able to get to the whole thing!

Singles tourney sounds good - a knock out might be good so that people aren't playing games for something they can't win - I think the first AoS one was on that basis? I think I 'organised' it?
