Night Goblin Cave Squig Herder Question

Postby DaBoss » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:49 am

Just downloaded the latest ArmyBuilder file for Warhammer Fantasy as it has the Orc & Goblin Army list included, and started to enter my chosen Night Goblin Army.

When I got to adding my Night Goblin Cave Squig Herder Unit - I found that it was automatically adding a unit of these as 7 Cave Squigs and 3 Night Goblin Herders to make a default sized unit of 10 models (you can add extra of each type but not reduce it - i'e add a Cave Squig and remove a Night Goblin but keep it 10 strong).

Now this is different from my interpretation as it says "Must have at least one Night Goblin for every three Cave Squigs".

So to my mind if I take 8 Cave Squigs I need at least 2 Night Goblins, whereas if I select 9 Cave Squigs I must have 3 Night Goblins - makes sense but am I right?

NOTE: Have sent an email to ArmyBuilder Forum to the List Builder to see what they think - could just be the program mechanics are rounding up the number of squigs or he has programmed a default size on selection.

Mathmatically I think your incorrect.

Squig 1-3 / 1 NG
Squig 4-6 / 2 NG
Squig 7-9 / 3 NG

And so forth. As long as you work out that every 3 squigs (Or part thereof) has a NG your fine.

So 10 man unit would b 3 NG and 7 Squigs.

Would it not be

1-5 Squigs / 1 NG
6-8 Squigs / 2 NG
9-11 Squigs/ 3 NG

This is correct per the quote.

If its 1 per 3 though, you need 1 NG for every group of 3..?

Therefore 4 Squigs would require 2 NG (as 1 NG cant hold 4 Squigs!)

1 heavy weapon per 3 models (like 40k Chaos terminators) and you have access to only 2 heavy weapons in a squad of 8, not 3 as it's not "up to 3 models". Retrofit this to the NG + squig squad, and you have 2 NGs able to handle 8 squigs. I can see both sides of this, and if playing O&G I'd take 3 NGs with 7 squigs, but the wording is ambiguous enough to require whole groups of 3 squigs rather than partials.
