Right, bit of an update! Had a few thunderstorms roll through here last night and today, so put me a bit behind schedule. So here's how it looks walking up to the front of our house, the beginning of the crypt. Please excuse the blurry, still figuring the damn camera out!

Image

As you get closer you see the entrance a bit better, the opening flanked by flaming torches.

Image

As you walk into the crypt, on the right you see this (homemade!) tombstone. The lower picture was cut out of a sheet of plywood, and I seem to remember haveing downed a brew or three in the process! It is backlit with small bulbs.

Image

Walking into the crypt triggers a motion controller. This lights up 2 bulbs high in the crypt, and turns on a strobe light which sets off the top effect. The tombstone opens and the skeleton screams!

Image

On the left side of the crypt is the "final placement" of the Nosferatu tombstone.

Image

Now all it needs is the addition of about a gallon of blood....

Image

...the pump starts up, and the tombstone starts to "bleed".

Image

But once it starts going, well, I think Matt simply said, "Bloody Hell"!

Image

So that's about it for tonight, more updates tomorrow I hope!

Yikes. The most I do for halloween is block the letterbox with a broom to stop louts pushing nasty stuff through and turn off the lights to pretend I'm not in.

Right! Got some more done on the decorations today. Had a busy weekend so that set me back another couple of days, but it's starting to come together at last.
Finally down to the wire!

Everyone knows how much I like to cook, and in particular, to grill outdoors! (Well, everyone around my house at least! :D ) So this year I again invited my favorite group to set up their grill on my lawn, the better to serve man!

Image

Here are two intrepid cooks grilling up some "finger food" or "hand-burgers"!

Image

If you're going to put a foot in your mouth, it should at least be well done!

Image

And of course we only use the very freshest ingredients!

Image

And any leftovers are carefully packed to preserve flavor and freshness!

Image

Over the next day or two I'll get the finishing touches on everything, give the fog system its final test, and then I'll be ready to scare the crap out of greet all the little tricks or treats-ers on Halloween night! Bwahahahahaha!

EDIT!

Almost forgot. I only had the one poor picture of our huge man-eating spider, so here are a couple more shots. As I said, the web is homemade, the tricky part is wrapping it up carefully year after year so it doesn"t get all tangled up!

Image

Image

The spider's front legs move up and down, and tangled in the web are the wrapped bones of the spider's past 'victims'.

You're not right. You've gone wrong.

Actually, you know what?
How about a "leanna quigley" moment from return of the living dead?
That would bring the punters in!!!
