8.0 release today :D

Downloading the 8.0 install right now ready for it being live later today. Apparently some people have had problems with the patch not installing fully so I'm grabbing the full client version. If you haven't spotted the forum post on WG with the links here they are:

Main WoT site is down right now for maintenance, but from comments on the FB page it looks like the EU server will be running version 8 from around 1pm GMT (2pm UK time) today.

wow spack, i thought you'd have been all over this yesterday


for some reason it takes me quite a while to download from them (direct, disabled the torrent), but definately worth it

the visuals in 8 are just beautiful, but you may want to tweek your graphics before getting into a match, the new grass and terrain upped my loading times alittle

but the new physics are fantastic


i zipped over a cliff in a T18, got some MAJOR air

then popped a track when i landed!


i'd avoid water though, you kinda drown if you stay in it too long, regardless of how deep you are


definately cant argue with the new tank textures, they really make a difference!

also, avoid the Mattilda BP, they're just glorified churchills, but easier to pop, my M37 with the 105mm Howitzer takes them in 1 shot if i hit it just right

I've avoided the beta as I was running low on disk space. The EU server was still running 7.5 this morning, so couldn't play 8 even if I had it installed. Are you playing on the US server?

Downloading the full 3.67GB install from the link I posted took my PC about 30 mins this morning

i was using the launchers patcher, so that might explain the speed problem

im also on the EU server

though not as high on the eu (still tier 2 where im close to t4 on the us)

Had fun playing this evening, even managed to slide down some cliff faces without taking damage The new graphics seem a bit too bright and cartoony, and the tanks bouncing makes it much harder to hit anything on the move. Going to take a while to get used to it. Got the ELC AMX tonight too, although with the stock modules it's a bit slow and can't kill anything.
