Re: Rise of the Seekers

Postby Talus » Wed Nov 07, 2012 8:03 pm

well the freezer didnt work, i left them in there for close to 5 hours while i went to work, all i ended up with was 3 very cold vindicators :P

so i took one of my modeling tools, and managed to pry 4 side panels off, couldnt do anything with the top parts without causing severe damage to the kit

so the one i couldnt get them off, has a blue stripe along the top and sides

the ones i could, have blue doors on the side, thats it

and where paint came off, im going to try my hand at painting on weathering (oddly, paint chips)

dont expect miracles, i suck at weathering

while doing all this, i also redid the stripe on the raider, expanded it and put it straight down the side instead of at an angle, sadly i still have a fairly visible line from where it used to be, i think im doing something wrong with the masking...

but the line on the sides, not a problem, it has armor panels to go over it :P

ok, despite the masking it seems the blue got freaking everywhere, and i dont have the patience (or the tape left) to mask it and respray it

so...

does anyone know of a paint that is the same shade as the vallejo model air sand?

ive tried brushing it on, but its too thin, so i was thinking of the game colour range, but they're named differently... any ideas?

well i had a busy day yesterday :)

from primed parts to finished legs, amazing what you can do with an airbrush :D

this also puts the seeker troop scheme as 100% final, because these contemptors are being painted exactly like the infantry :)

then you wont want to know that it only took an hour to do both sets of legs? 5 minutes for the bases (though im sure it shows at the moment, they arent quite done 100%) and 20 minutes to sort out the pose? :P

id hardly call my productivity lately anything to shout about, this is the most ive done in the last week... im STILL working up the land raider and vindicators, ive just been painting these tanks for so long going from one colour scheme to another that ive lost all interest in them...

still, its my challenge for this week :D

That's nothing new ruffian.

We had a storm here that hit hundreds of cars with tree branches!

@Talus, like the way they're coming along. The paint scheme rally looks good.

well i suck at weathering...

this is my first real attempt in a long long time, and i think i went a little overboard

and by overboard i mean the life rafts of the titannic overboard!

nice simple technique, edges in lighter colour with a 50/50 scorched brown/chaos black mix inside them

fair bit of work done on the contemptors

ImageImage

blue shoulder pad to give a bit more colour to a bone arm

the right arms (the weapons) will be red to match the troops weapons

they're a little off balance right now, but thats only because they arent stuck to the bases yet, still have to finish those (flock, body parts etc)

the heads are finished, nice and blue :)

but those are always the last thing to go on

there is a cyclone launcher to go on the one with the assault cannon, which will be... well they arent named, so it'll be on number IX :P

-edit-

looking at the pictures, i can see a big splodge of light blue paint on IV's shoulder... that will be turned into a paint chip :P

As far as I know its the same as humans blood, in fact all blood in the game is red, even Orks!
"The guns have stopped because we are at last about to attack. Even our generals aren't mad enough to shell their own men, they think its far more sporting to let the Germans do it!"
