Have spent 6 hours today making street and station lighting for my son's railway.

More info in my blog: blog/Spack/model_railway_lighting_b-130.html

EDIT: in the middle of the night (well, this morning when my son opened his presents) a mysterious vehicle appeared in the new loading area that magically appeared (when the giant monster moved some of the buildings around ...)

All I can say Spack is that it was time well spent. The layout looks fantastic. Your son is a lucky boy. :D

Very nice. I've got a couple of 1/48 scale aircraft tucked away waiting to put together when my son is old enough to help with them, a Eurofighter and an F-22 - both fighter aircraft I've worked on in some small way during my sandwich year at Uni with Dowty Aerospace, building fluid flow models and building failure rate tracking databases in 1992/93 (when their top spec PC was a 486SX25, and the other PCS - all 3 of them in the technical dept - were a couple of 286s and a 386, all running Windows 3.0!!).

Double post time! Put up the Christmas decorations in the house today, ended up adding a second tree on the railway:

My son doesn't know it's there yet, will be interesting to see how long it takes him to notice it :D

Great stuff. I really love the weathering on the underside.

You've been far more productive than me I think this year.

Quarter??this year?? LH bought me a bunch of coat d'arms paints last xmas to give me a proper palette to work from ..and I think the only thing I've done this year is strapping the skellybob to the quadgun..and this was the year of no internets.

With everybody dropping like flies from hobby its hard to motivate to paint models I know will never hit the table. I might finish painting up my metal brettonians/cultists,but orks tyranids etc etc have gone back to attic.
Project for january is to do a couple more batreps.
Barely even lurking..

I guess the difference between us is that I build and paint for aesthetic, not to play. I don't remember the last time I actually played a game.
That's not to say I'm not interested in playing. I just do not live close enough to any club that's within easy reach. And the only local friend I have who is into this hobby, our schedules aren't compatable.
My local supplier keeps saying he's gonna set up some tables are start a club. I've even volunteered to help. But just need him to pull his finger out.

Edit: silly phone auto correct..

That looks familiar ;) I'm just about to start a "wing" of these - a long time coming i know.

What have you got in mind for the engines?

Cool :) do you have any pics of your progress?

For the engines I got the following.

2m long FloPlast 32mm Waste Pipe

Image

22mm Pipe joiners which when taken appart fit we'll on the waste pipe. Also some plastic shot glasses.

The pic without the shot glass I thought would make a good engine cowl. Combined with an idea an AoS member called Morty had for the turbine. He used the idea for a scratch built Thunderbolt.
project-logs/morty-s-scratchbuild-project-log-photos-t2605-90.html

Obviously the pic with the shot glass I though would make good tail end of the engines. Just need to add a little detail.

What do you think?
