Mars Attacks

Postby mattjgilbert » Thu Sep 12, 2013 9:39 pm

New game coming via kickstarter 4th October: http://www.marsattacksthegame.com/

Based loosely on the Deadzone mechanics it will feature Martians and humans and then whatever else the kickstarter achieves(hopefully flying saucers!)

Nice find Matt! I will definitely be watching this one.

I collected the Mars Attacks cards when I was a kid!

Meh, which is the KS one that comes with the tripod stalker craft in.. that one had some epic models. (and Noooobody does tripods)

Edit.. oh it was this one.. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/111 ... e-tanks-vs
I had friends running from all over the place just because NOBODY does tripods.

Topps are rebooting the franchise timewizard.

New cards, new comics, new merchandise.. and new games :)

They were impressed with the DreadBall kickstarter that Mantic ran and asked them to do this game with a kickstarter.

No tripods I think kmb - unless they are going to appear in the new comics and cards as they are not in the Mars Attacks fluff as far as I know.

I picked this up on amazon yesterday - new comic material :)

I've attached a couple of pictures of the Martian prototype. It's been retooled since then based on feedback from the painter (winterdyne on warseer).

I had seen that Topps was re-issuing the cards. Didn't know about the comics though.

Great looking models. I guess you could always come up with some house rules for the tripods!

But where would you get the tripods from.. nobody does tripods.. it like a rule of modelling or something..

So this is an advert for an advert to start at some point, due to recruitment of team (Matt) hard advertising previously being so successful, I swear kickstarter is to gaming as negative hedges are to corporate responsibility.
I know I'm totally alone in my madness, but I want one batrep per advertising campaign...just 1.

minus 5 for not spotting that I linked to that KS 3 posts up.. but it didn't have rabid hard core sellers pushing so didn't go astronomical.

Matt, I need some help!!!!!

I am really seriously thinking about buying into the Mars Attacks kickstarter and boosting up(double my EB) to get the figs for the Martians as a counts as Necrons army.

My question is:

Relative size, figure to figure how to they stack up.

Are the Martian grunts about the same size as a Necron Warrior?
Saucers. Initially I had hoped to use these as Necron Aircraft, but I think they may be too small. If that is so, how big are they compared to a Destroyer for instance?
I know the robot is just a possible stretch goal now, but how BIG will he be do you think? Thinking using as Triarch Stalkers.
I figured I could use giant bugs as my Wraiths

Any thoughts on other possible options. The sneak peak of the Stealth Martian got me thinking I could use him/those as Flayed Ones and Freeze Rays as weapon upgrades or something.

If you have 'any' inside thoughts on size and viability of my idea that would be great.

I've played with the Martian 3D prints but I've not seen them compared to another model so Can't say. I'll see if I can get someone at Mantic to do some comparison shots and some measurements.

Calling Mr Obvious, If you're going to do that, perhaps try not to instantly fall into the trap of "hay look they're identical to high elves but not high elves honest guv" schlock that "you lot" have only just managed to shake off with the last 2 releases.
Saying about the size of an ogryn- and then only PMing direct mini comparisons (which presumably need GWs permission?), will lessen my "now their cloning Y  " by Xpercent.

Considering that these are not designed in any way as a Necron clone, and its my idea to make this army work and not theirs, I doubt the cloning concern would be valid anyway. Its not like these are terminator models made for Deadzone for instance. Then we can say, hey those look like Necron clones. ;)
