the giant is there over the other options basically because i have one and i like him - don't mind dropping him if its needed, but if it can stay i'd like that.

Looks fairly solid to me. The only thing I would change is the bestigors, either make the unit bigger or swap them for for more gors or ungors. You could drop the giant for more bestigor or swap the bestigor for 25-30 gor and spend the rest on ungor skimishers. Personally I would go for the latter so you can keep the giant!

due to circumstance, i actually only got to try this list out on monday and it performed much better.

i played it as i listed it above because that is all i had access to at the time, but it highlighted to me the issue you raised.

we played watch tower and although i had 'control' of it at the start, i didn't have a single core unit small enough to garrison in it, so certainly i think i need a smaller unit.

the bestigors didn't really get a fair chance as i used them to fight for the watch tower whilst the larger units took on the enemy (and won - but then it was against ogres and gnoblars, so it was do or die for my opponent!) because of this i'll try leaving out the giant to get the gors in next time to give the bestigors another chance then try it the other way around.

one unit that did give me pause for thought though was the centigors. i do love them, but they didn't shine in a unit of 5, and i ended up keeping the one surviving member well out of the way to avoid the vp losses if it became relevant.

what i'm thinking of is to use the points to purchase some harpies and also go some way to adding a couple more minotaurs to their unit (and i'll be swapping the great weapons to additional hand weapons too!). basically, although the centigors' stats are better than the harpies in most respect, they struggled to get to the warmachines that i took them to tackle, so i figure the harpies may manage that better.

also, i'm considering replacing the Shaman's Tuskgor Chariot with a Razorgor Chariot because it gives a bit of a boost to the chariot withought eating in to special choice points

thoughts?

I would go with list 2.

I think 6 minotaurs is the about the right number to take, any less and a descent number won't make combat, any more and they become far to expensive.

The harpies should be good for war machine hunting esp with scout.

I still think you need more bestigor. I would be tempted to take 29 of them and run them 10x3. Having 29 S6 attacks is going hurt anyone!

Let us know how it goes.

fair play - i'll put that on the to do pile. need to get a battalion at some point so i can make things viable, but that may need to wait a bit.

when the time comes and i've got the bestigor models, what do you think i should ditch to make room?

You can get an extra 7 if you drop the chariot and if you can find one 1 point from somewhere or drop the 19 gors to get an extra 12 and with the points leftover you could get some ungor skirmishers.
