Started playing WFB during the old 3rd Edition Herohammer days with a few different armies. 3rd Edition High Elves ended up being my main army with some time given over to Orcs and Goblins when people grew bored of the 80 Lothern Sea Guard with 3 Bolt Throwers and a Hero on a Dragon with the Crown of Sorcery Army... I'll just get my coat.

Im not sure what edition i started playing under, but it was not long before "Undead" became VC and i lost my chariots and Screaming Skull catapult. my original army was lead by a mounted Liche lord (i used the barded steed from a vampire, the special character from the campaign pack IIRC and the Liche from the WH Quest campaign pack, even managing to get his throne back onto the steed!) but i sold him at a bring and buy when Lord Malek was created and took over under the VC book (Blood Dragons, obviously :P).

i almost bought a Slaanesh Daemon army ages ago, but found they didnt do to well in playtesting. at one point i managed to get 1000 pts of VC painted (or near enough) for a shop league/tourney, but a shooty Skaven army put me off a bit...

and ive not really played since (although Mordheim was my main game for a while) - ive always been a 40K player at heart though (was my first game).

ive got metal graveguard (with halberds, and converted command), dire wolves, ghouls, skellies, zombies, vampire counts (inc. some that appear to be limited release/"unreleased"), bat swarms, banshees, fell bats, mounted wights, necromancers, plus some other stuff i am probably forgetting. if anyone needs any undead, i would be willing to part with some of it (although i will be keeping some for Mordheim).

sadly, i never did the Vamp Lord on Zombie Dragon conversion i wanted to do (although i did proxy for a game and he was brutal ).

the new VC book almost tempted me back, but ive just got too much 40K to do already...

cheers :)

You can never have too much Tim... shame on you for suggesting such a thing!

I remember getting iron claw goblins (I still have some in my current army) and the working chaos dwarf war machines. I had a couple of boxes of the first bulk-buy fantasy plastics (Warhammer Regiments).

Other than the Daleks/Cybermen I had all the rest of the plastics on this page too.

Most of it is lost or sold when I didn't know any better :(

TBH I think the old Warhammer Regiments Chaos Warrior kit from about 8 years ago is better than the current one. The current one is just too static.

I loved that Skeleton Horde set, and the later version in a bigger box with horses and chariots etc.

I think they are better than the modern ones, they were finer and much easier to assemble. And the archers were not *@+&*&%$ left handed either.

My 4th ed army was lead by this guy too. I had mine on a giant spider. I stopped playing fantasy for a while after the undead split, as I had themed my undead on a tomb king force. Neither half was useable with the change.
The liche is now a tomb king on chariot (spider counting as chariot), but has to ride into battle sideways so that the base matches.....

I did manage to convert a zombie dragon rider: http://warseer.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1442

A cynical man would say that splitting armies out such as undead and chaos into seperate army books is an execise in profiteering
