WFB, lets give it some love!

Postby conscriptboris » Wed Sep 03, 2008 8:56 pm

hi all,

This has been a mainly 40k site (and was probably designed that way) but I have always had my eye peering over to the fantasy boards!

Years ago I had the Tomb Kings army, 2800PTS!! not painted, played a few games, then sold it all on ebay :D

So Im now onto Dwarfs, always loved the dwarf armies! got a few bits and pieces (Basically 2 sets of minis from the new WFB set, value for money!!) and I was wondering who else on the site is interested in the WFB and what army's you got?? also how long have you been playing (I want to see who I can aim my noob Qs @ :D )

So, just dwarfs for me! 4games about 7 yrs ago,

conscriptboris

PS: Ive a set of WFB boxed set goblins up for sell/trade?

PPS: Maybe nxt yrs meet up can have WFB....oh oh, and epic :P

Got some 2nd ed WHFB bits but started playing with 3rd ed. PLayed 4th. Missed 5th but got back into it at the end of 6th and start of 7th.

Had many armies over that time and still have all the books etc.

Current armies are:
High Elves (probably 4000+ and still have lots to get)
Orcs & Goblins (around 6000+ with a few bits still to get)
Will have Daemons once I put them together (will server for 40K as well as WHFB)
Considering something else but not decided what yet.

I have enough O&Gs to split into 2 armies (pure Orcs or Goblins) if required.

I've got plans in mind for some more/new fantasy terrain but it's all on the back-burner while my huge 40K pile gets tackled.

Wolflord Havoc and I are running a WHFB tourney on Sunday. I'll post details and pics of how it went.

I'll also try and do some bat reps at some point.

Oh epic :D I'd like to get back into that again (haven't played since it was Space Marine) but that's sitting on the would-be-nice-if-I-had-time pile.

I don't currently play WHFB, although I did own an O&G army for a brief period of time.

Personally, I would like to see a LotR forum. The game is fantastic, cheap to get into and the games are quickly played.

Just my thoughts. :)

I don't like it in the LotR forum. The cobwebs and tumbleweeds scare me. I think I would rather spend time in the WFB forum with my Vampire Counts.

Doh... teaches me to speak prior to checking first. I swear it wasn't there before.. ;)

I am glad I have been pointed to it, as I have been playing more LotR than 40k and will have stuff to post there on a more ongoing basis.

I think I have enough to do one of those random chaos builds with part deamon (from my 40k selection) part beast thing part humans (or was that 6th ed cheese and the codexs don't work like that?)
I had loads of realms of chaos and loads of skaven but I gave them away in the 90s (WHY DO I HAVE NO EMOTICONS< I WISH TO SHOW I AM SAD...sniffle)
I could start learning to play 7th but the only guy I know who plays WHF has just moved to cornwall or somewhere.
At present I have some fantasy orcs (to be topped off with AOBR orcs), a fair chunk of old dark elves (about 35 or so) 50 very generic chaos warriors (you know the old heroquest era flagship models) A imrik dragon (without rider) and a bunch of brettonians (2 cannon teams 8 horses, and a 30 crossbow men 30 archers 30 CCW guys) and for my demon army I bought the box set of plague skaven (really pretty and lots of bling and icons)
They all in one form or another were part of my LATD at one time or another.

I'll keep an ear on this forum- but don't expect me to know any of whats going on :)
Barely even lurking..

Playing since 4th Ed

A bazillon points of HE (10k? More? Maybe? Can't legally field it all though, think I've only got enough Core to put 6, maybe 7k in the field)
TK ~2k
VC ~1.5k (not updated to 7th)

Defo doing the new Warriors of Chaos (started before but never really did it properly).

Well I have large numbers of Fantasy figures although I haven't played WHFB since first edition...

Saying that I am currently building a Roman inspired camp for someones dwarf army!

I used to play Warhammer more than I did 40k. I have been playing it since the High Elves and Goblins box set, cant remember what edition it was as it was so long ago.

Have owned, High Elves, Empire, Bretonnians x 2( 2 different editions), Skaven(never ever used them) and Tomb Kings.

Havent played Warhammer for at least 3 years and have since sold all my armies with the exception of a couple of units of Tomb Kings which are painted and in the Redcar shop window.

I can't get my head around this concept of selling figures and armies, can someone explain it to me?

Been playing WFB on and off (more off than on) since about ’95 and have:
1,000pts painted VCs and another 2,000 on the way
1,000pts Empire – just assembled to be used as a beginner game force
1,000pts of Beastmen assembled with another 2,000 to do after the Counts
approx 750 Dwarfs assembled and easily another 2,000 – 3,000 sitting on sprues/in bags or boxes – never really got to these guys – just bought a few bits from ebay
approx 1,250 Warriors of Chaos assembled but unpainted
recently sold my 2,000 pts Wood Elves force to a friend to get him playing.
1,000pts Nurgle and Slaanesh Daemons – by default following the seperation of the books.

With no opponents I spent a lot of years just buying stuff on a whim, starting them and then moving on to the next recent army book. The warriors and Daemons I got to go alongside the beasts, but now they are all armies in their own right.

Have barely played the game in the last 6 years since I left uni, but I have a regular opponent now who is quite a good player (unless you ask him, them he is superb). So he is teaching me all that I have forgotten.
