WH Campaign

Postby mattjgilbert » Fri Jun 19, 2009 8:42 am

I'm planning to write up a WHFB campaign soon (this weekend with any luck). It'll be quite simple and will try to involve the small number of armies the club has to date. It'll be story driven and will escalate in points size with each game. Something akin to the 40K campaign in the 5th ed rulebook (which reminds me... WLH and I really must write up how that finished for you all).

Once I've drafted it, I'll post it here and then we can report on progress :)

Cool.. if you have the time to add little splurges about how fantasy works/why X happening is important.. that would help my reading of it (I haven't tried playing fantasy since 1990ish)
Will you be using that fantasy book thats all about campaigns?(can't remeber the name, but most 40kers seem to use the fantasy one..)
Barely even lurking..

We certainly can. Of course, that would expose the huge mistakes we make and show up our n00b status as occasional (not enough of) fantasy gaming.

Two things are converging here.

1. I want to do a fantasy campaign
2. We had a huge siege game last year over a whole day and across both my tables (12 x 4) and want to do another big game (no castle this time)

So the idea is to have a couple of story streams which span 2 or 3 games each and then both converge in a final big game involving all members of the club.

The armies we have are:
Orcs and Goblins (lots painted but lots more to go)
High Elves (mostly painted but still missing some key units)
Rats (mostly painted)
Empire (limited unit options and none painted)
Daemons (mostly unpainted and limited options)

I was thinking of having armies invading High ELf lands with the rats and the orcs taking one of the story streams each. They would then combine forces in the final game against the HE with Empire allies. I don't know where if at all the daemons might fit in to it. They don't have to.

We have the mighty empire tiles but this will not be a map based campaign and they are not painted up yet... that's for the future and once BDA finally gets round to collecting the Lizardman army he keeps talking about.
