Discussing rules for WFB

Fear vs Stubborn

Postby mattjgilbert » Thu Mar 25, 2010 10:48 am

Last night while playing this we came up against: a fear causing unit which outnumbers its opponents wins the combat. The losing unit is stubborn.

Now we were unsure what happened. The fear rules say auto-break unless you roll insane courage (which is making a Ld test and getting double 1). Does stubborn affect this (i.e. can you take a test on you normal Ld or does the auto-break win out?)

For the sake of the narrative on our game, we let the stubborn unit make a normal Ld test but I suspect by RaW they don't get to.

Thoughts?

Nope - the auto-break fear test overrides the Stubborn rule (and any other rule).

Happens to my Plague Censer Bearers all the time - unit of 10 gets knocked down to say 4 models, is outnumbered by High Elf Lion Chariot; even with being within 6" of Plague Furnace Monks which gives +3 to Leadership and Stubborn rule - I still need to roll double 1 (as have lost Frenzy due to being beaten).

It's what I thought but it didn't feel right for our game so we ruled the other way which fitted the theme better :)
