I finished reading the rules last night and thought they were really clear and very well written. But now I get a 6 page errata/faq document!

And that's on top of the one which actually came with the book regarding victory points.

GOOD: they got this out fast
BAD: There is so much wrong in the book I spent a lot of money on

Playing my first test game tonight with Wolflord havoc. Now I have to take this document into consideration too!

Chances GW will give me a free reprint as my book is invalid?

Going to have a read now!

So the FAQ answers some of our questions.
Main ones that have affected my games:

Page 43 – Shields
Add “If a model has no armour save apart from a shield, it
gains a 6+ armour save” to the end of the second paragraph.
Change the third paragraph to “For example: A Dark Rider is
mounted giving it a save of 6+, it also has light armour which
increases its save to 5+. If it also carried a shield, its armour
save would increase to 4+.”

Reference Section – Armour Saves
Add “Shield 6+
Mounted + Shield 5+”

So a Night Goblin with Spear and Shield will get his 6+ Armour Save...Hoorah

Page 54 – Steadfast
Change the first paragraph to “If a defeated unit has more
ranks than its enemy, it takes a Break test without applying the
difference in the combat result scores.” Change the fourth
paragraph to “Steadfast units don’t apply the difference in
combat result scores to Break tests.”

Page 60 – Steadfast
Change “[...]can use its unmodified Leadership[...]” to
“[...]doesn’t apply the difference in combat result scores[...]”.
Change both references to “[...] any enemy units [...]” to “[...]
all enemy units [...]”.

So Combat results are not applied - just as we thought.

Q: Does pivoting on the spot count as movement for the purposes of
units, other than war machines, with the Move or Fire rule?(p73)
A: Yes.

So my Skaven Warpfire Thrower won't be able to turn to shoot its weapon....

Q. If an enemy unit is affected by the Doom and Darkness spell,
and the unit is within the general’s Inspiring Presence radius, does
the Leadership value conferred by Inspiring Presence suffer the
modifier even if the General is not affected? (Reference)
A: Yes.

So how will this work with 'Steadfast'???

Q: Does a unit garrisoning a building count as having any ranks at
any point? (p126)
A. No.

Makes it very hard to hold a building. When storming the unit outside will always be steadfast so can grind away.

I'm really glad I didn't buy the collectors edition. £75 of misprints!

I'm still really looking forward to playing it is it looks a great game but from a customer's point of view it's really bad.

If you sold a computer game with this many bugs in it people would be screaming for their money back!

Units garrisoning a building always count as Steadfast (much like skirmishers in woods). Also note after assaulting a building a unit that fails to break the enemy has to retreat 1" away from the building - so combats are not carried over to the next turn.

Disgracefully large FAQ. Good to see it published so fast, but really, how many mistakes and questions? I have had a quick flick through the big book now and it's very nice. Still won't be buying it though especially with this many errors. Will the small boxset book have these corrected in print or have they all been printed already?

That's pretty much an unknown, but the release date (or advance order date) is supposed to be August 10, so they are probably already all printed up.

Here's the link for the info.

But the devs would say an update was on its way, whilst secretly disbanding the developer team and having them all go and work for EA.... There are some games,oi vey, you can't complete level 14 without cheating, you can't stand on square X without falling through a black hole in space and time, you get stuck and merge with a car..

The most awesome and self aware, humouress example of this is the deus ex (free) expansion the nameless mod (where you play an enforcer to a group of mods in a forum (sort of like deus ex tron) it is possible for you to break the plot..when you do so (by for example killing the big baddy near the begining of the game.. you are sent before the uber mind of all web portals who says you broke reality and you as an anomoly must be deleted/killed (and you die)..your charecter argues "how hard would it have been to just put invincible =1 true, gahhh" and then you die (to remind you to play to the story and not bug hunt...blew my mind(awesome game is the best, pant wettingly so when played with the hi resolution mods)
Barely even lurking..

Sure, patch files would be put up all over the place, but the point is that game companies that continually put out buggy and shoddy work either;
1-Get their s...tuff together and do more debugging before putting the product out or
2-Find that other game companies are now growing more of a following of users tht used to support the shoddy company
3-Or find their products being pirated even more because no one wants to shell out money for a really crappy product

I guess my real point is I find it disappoining that GW ignores the input from their end users as far as requested rules clarifications and then churns out a product that surely took a lot of time to complete and found they had to release a 6 page "patch file" in the weeks following its release.

And probably the most disturbing is having them cop out behind "the most important rule" instead of making a decision on an issue that is worded too ambiguously.

Off Soapbox now, sorry  . Move along. There's nothing moe to see here. :(
