Advice On My Next Tank

Advice On My Next Tank

Postby markb » Tue Mar 05, 2013 10:47 am

Ok, as the title suggests I'm at a bit of an impasse. I've go a load of tanks unlocked and close to unlocking a few more but I'm struggling to get credits to buy them all. Currently I have 1.6m credits and 155k free xp so stock grind isn't an issue.

The tanks I have unlocked are the Conqueror, the Pershing, T32 and T28 Prototype. I've heard that the T32 and Pershing are a disappointment after the T29 and T20 which is kind of putting me off. I love the Caernarvon so I'm hoping that the Conqueror will be as good an upgrade to it as the Centurion 7/1 is to the mk1 (the 7/1 has now become officially my favourite tank!). However what also muddies the waters is that with my free xp I have enough to also unlock one of either the IS7, T62A or the FV4202.

Help, I genuinely don't know where to go next. I feel that as I've played nearly 6k games I really should be hitting tier 10 by now but by the same token I want to keep advancing the other lines. I run a premium account btw.

T32 and Pershing are both great tanks, but they're very disappointing stock, especially the T32. Once you have the turret on it, though, its awesome - lacking a bit of pen, but decent speed, same gun as T29 firing a bit faster, and a ridiculous turret, not to mention a surprisingly bouncy hull.
Pershing isn't as quick as the T20, but its plenty mobile, and fires well on the move. 180mm pen on its top gun is fine, and its gun mantle (upgraded turret again) is rather epic, and is almost the entire front of the turret. Can't comment on the T28P and the Conqueror, but my clanmates seem to like the former.
IS7 is much less fun than it once was, what with all the high pen guns and premium shells flying around, I'd go for a tier 10 medium instead. Don't free XP them until you have enough credits to buy them, otherwise you're wasting credit making time and free XP.

I see you've played the SU-100 - my fave tier 6 beast. Unlock the SU-152 and have some fun shouting "derp" at people.

I'd also suggest finding a clan - playing tier 8 company battles really takes away any desire for tier 10 tanks - I sold my IS-4 recently (but kept my IS-7 for old times sake).

Thanks for the info. To be honest since I started on the Brit line I've seriously lost my mojo for the Russian line, I just love the Brit tanks, they really suit my playing style, basically I like sitting on the reverse slope of a hill and playing peekaboo, the US tanks are good at this as well due to the mantlets of outrageousness but their guns are nowhere near as accurate. As I said the 7/1 is probably one of the best peekaboo tanks in the game, the L7A1 is amazing.

I gave up on the Russian TD line as I got sick of the grind and also I just didn't like the fixed hull gun. It was this reason that made me go down the US turreted line, I love my M36 Jackson, it's got my highest kill per game, just in front of my 7/1 but with a lot more games played.

Due to me working away for three months at a time I've never really looked at clans as I can't give them the dedication that they would be looking for. It would be good to get my win rate up though, I'm really sick of some of the pub matches i get, in one game in my T29 i got 3 kills, confederate and 3.6k damage and we still lost! One of the other things is my XVM and WN7 is quite low but to be fair since I started taking the scores seriously in the last few months I've had an average nudging into the good and very good area.

I may go for the Pershing to T28 Proto, I already own the T34 so not sure I want another US heavy at the minute.

I think your next tank should have 2 legs and come from the mwomercs.com site. ;)

Seriously, the Brit tanks sound very well suited for you and why mess with what works!

You're probably right, might save uo for the Conqueror. :)

Having said I wouldn't join a clan I've just COBRA, a casual gaming clan!
