Caught out on weekend special again ...

I really wanted a Tiger 2, but it was a bit of a disappointment when I got it. It's slow - painfully slow at 25kph with 100% driver and top engine. The upgraded turret has good armour, but gets penned too easily by same tier guns from the sides and back due to big flat areas. Hull is particularly vulnerable below the glacis. And when you get a 105mm gun the shell cost jumps from 250 to 1050, so most of the time on a free account you'll lose credits. With the top 105mm gun it's accurate and does a lot of damage, but you'll be pulled into tier 9-10 games much more frequently and get frustrated with the number of shells that bounce. With the 88mm it's a semi-profitable tank, although you end up bouncing shells a lot if you get dragged into a tier 9-10 game. It's certainly a lot more viable than the E75 though, and I do miss the Tiger 2 a bit - although the Panther is fast becoming a personal favourite as it's deadly accurate at long range and suits me playing a mobile sniper. The Jagdpanther is a great tank too - I don't see myself ever selling it, it's a great money maker and XP generator.

Right now my garage has a Panther, Jagdpanther, Panzer IV (working my way up the other heavy tree), Pz 32na (for when I platoon up with tier IV/V players), M3 Lee (working up the US heavy tree), Brit MkIII (heading up the heavies ...), and a Panzerjager 1 (wanted to try to improve it's stats, a good fun TD albeit with weak armour).

Jagdpanthers are another one of my faves. I did think a Panther would be cool too though! Still, it will be a while before I have to think about that!

Figure out which tank (or tanks) you want to get and then work towards them up the tech trees.
Otherwise you'll ed up wasting a lot of XPs researching things you'll never run.

Second TW's suggestion. Far too often I've unlocked guns or other upgrades that I never put on the tank, wasting XP. Or Used free XP to unlock something that I could have done with tank XP with another couple of good games. The other thing to watch out for is upgrades on a tank that can be used on the next tank in the tree - unlocking them earlier means that when you move up to the next tank you might already have access to a better engine, radio, and main gun, which means you don't end up grinding with a slow tank that has trouble killing anything in it's tier.

In addition, if there are modules on the new tank that you need and that can't be unlocked on an earlier tank, use XPs to unlock them before you purchase the tank. Then you can upgrade the tank before it goes into battle. Much better than getting frustrated by having to run an underclassed vehicle over and over before it gets up to the level you need.
