I finally got to WN8 green!

I finally got to WN8 green!

Postby Spack » Sat Aug 02, 2014 10:12 am

My WN8 rating has been slowly creeping up over the past months, and last night I finally hit green with a rating of 1250 :D

Unfortunately I won't be green via XVM for a while yet, as they have the wrong colour scale for WN8. The official scale has green starting at 1250, but XVM has it at 1325. :(

As long as mine looks good, I'm not worried about accuracy. Pretty much like my gunners!

Mind you, my sig is still WN7, and I have no idea how my ratings fare. I'm going to assume green is good

Edit: Ok, so checked mine out, updated the sig - and I am so red I'm a liability! :crybaby2 Seems strange since my win rate is shown as 50% ?! SO I would have thought amber would be closer . . .

Unfortunately a 50% win rate is only a small part of the calc, you need to be doing more than the average amount of kills, damaged, spotting, and defense to get green.

Taking your Leichtraktor as an example (being your highest number of battles on a tank), your win rate is 78% of expected but the other stats are below 50% of the expected amount. If all stats are 100% of expected the WN8 would be 1500 as that's the midline figure.

The stats page at wot/stats.php now has per tank WN8 ratings, and if you click any vehicle icon it shows how each WN8 stat compares to the expected value. You'll have to ignore the recent WN8 figure on your account as the Te-Ke breaks the calc due to having no stats, I'll be looking to fix that tomorrow.

Cool. It's no biggie to me really, as I just enjoy having tanks to drive around! :)

And it's back, after some great games in all the tanks I played, unfortunately a few really bad ones too. But overall I've pulled back from 1249 up to 1251 so I can't really complain.

congrats. I have had a horrendous time in Tier10 matches of late. My Waffle is really getting bad match-ups and maps. Anyway, I can't wait to get a higher score. will just have to keep going and trying.

Looking on your progress at Noometer your rating is increasing over time, so that's a good thing.

I've fixed the links to Noobmeter, WoTLabs, and WoT-News for US players, didn't notice the link was being generated with the wrong server identifier.

Wouldn't help me much, I haven't been on WoT in ages. Having some graphics cards issues that make the game pretty much unplayable.

I'll get it worked out, will probably just take a while.

What gfx card have you got TW? And what CPU? When 9.0 came out I had to use standard graphics engine and almost all settings on low or off to get 15-20 fps with a 9600GT and an Intel E5200. I upgraded an identical system for my brother-in-law and swapping the E5200 for an E8600 meant it would run on the 9600GT with the improved engine and 25-30fps at medium. WoT is mostly CPU bound, if your graphics card is OK then a cheap CPU replacement could help a lot.

I'm using an alienware 17X laptop.
It's a good gaming rig, I can run most everything on it with no problem.
WoT 8.x was not really a problem, had the graphics setting set to a point where the game looked good and was very playable.
Then 9.0 came out and despite me 'dumbing down' the setting, it was still very jerky.
My system uses an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU at 2.o GHz with 6 GB of RAM.
Graphics card is the NVidia 260m.
The laptop s about 3 or 4 years old, and trying to upgrade any of the hardware is a pain, and expensive.
But my choices are limited, don't really have a sopt for a desktop system.

Ah, if it's a laptop you're out of luck. The CPU, will decent for most things, is unfortunately the main bottleneck for WoT as it's a single threaded game, so it only uses 1 core - so it's effectively the same as a playing on a 2Ghz single core processor. The E5200 I had was a 2.5Ghz dual core processor, and the E8600 I put in my brother-in-laws PC is a dual core 3.3Ghz processor, the jump from 2.5 to 3.3 is pretty significant and makes a huge difference. The graphics card you have is actually pretty good, it's equivalent to the 9800GT which is a big step up from the 9600GT he's using in his system (and the same I had in my previous PC build).

What settings are you using? If you switch it to the standard rendering engine rather than improved, and then choose Low for the setting config, what FPS are you getting? You'll lose shadows, flowers, sun flare effects, all the niceties, but it should at least be playable.

I know that I have to set the graphics on low/low for everything.

TBH, I haven't tried it lately, had a few other things going on. I think I might even be a patch behind, so I'll give it a try an minimal everything.

Thanks for the insight on the processor! Was thinking of asking Santa for a new laptop this Christmas, but the one I want is mebabucks!

Guess I'll have to wait to hit the lottery!

9.2 is an improvement over 9.1, so it might run a little better. However, even if you set everything low or off, if you have the Improved graphics on it'll run like a dog - that's the key, you need to switch it to the Standard graphics. Also turn off FXAA; the graphics will look more jaggy, but by setting everything low you have a starting point where you can then add options back on and test each time, until you find a balance between eye candy and FPS. For testing I'd recommend firing up a replay - you can tweak the settings while the reply is running and check the FPS and quality without messing up your stats by starting unplayable games, and the settings in the replay carry over to the proper game as it's the same game engine.
