You know if you can't get any warriors on ebay it just means you'll have to buy mine.

Those original spray cans still haven't turned up - no idea what happened to them.

GW is expensive but then so are lots of hobbies, mountain biking, reenacting, computer gaming, drinking the list goes on.
at least with GW and war gaming in general you can build your collection up over time using Christmas and birthdays to help boost your collection.
not like mountain biking where there is a big ass outlay at the start.

Good point!
Taken individually, yes the models are expensive.
It would be interesting to see what a sample 1,000 point list would cost MSRP.

What spray cans?.. The ones the post office confiscated? Were they yours? You need to speak to Gav tmw if there's stuff outstanding Matt. We might have to refund you as the PO won't take them anymore. Courier is the only option now.

I'm sure I will get them cheaper than a £1 each though Matt. You sure you don't want to get rid?

Gav resent the cans in the end so I have them already thanks :)

I do want to get rid of them, but not at 75p a model!

@ Nige, Matt at £1 a model painted to that standard he is already gifting them to you, I am thinking of building MY necron army now so you best re-think quick!

Just done a quick cron list with 40 Warriors in, the warriors account for over a 1/4 of the lists points, for £40 and maintaining that cost to model ratio that's an 1850 army for £160

£160 for a full on 1850 lits I think is good. Many people wouldn't instantly get a 1850 list, they would build up to that in time...

As for Matt's necrons, I can buy 60 new necrons (scarabs counting as a necron) for £88 rrp - thats is equal to £1.47 each.

At a shop with 15% off like our own, that's £1.25 per model, and I know matt's are painted to a good gaming standard already and include the £2.60 postage, but I still need to try and get this thing together cheaper, if for no other reason than wanting to see if i can. Matt's had them gathering dust for ages now... he'll see sense soon :)

I'm with Nige here. For models that are going to require work a £1 each for basic troops it too much. At that cost it's still worth paying the extra and getting new. Not have the trouble of fixing and stipping other peoples work and the ability to pose them and equip them your self is worth it. So for second hand even if done well is always going to be making the best out of some elses unwanted work....

I think for your experiment to work you should not be brow beating people with the strength of your buying position.. I know many tradesmen, and push for lower value.. but thats artificially messing with the market.. other normal plebs don't get to do that- so neither should you :)
Matts selling a product and wants a pro painted value, King wants arms glued to crotch needing break fluid value (which this site outside redcar never seems to do).
I'm amazed you're not looking at counts as.. my plague rats for plague bearers were the cheapest per model unit I've ever bought and nice counts as..
Going crap tier look for androids.. go for other peoples models ranges of robots etc etc..
If done right with the right colour scheme its actually thematic and pretty.

(Daggnabbit he's trolled me on here AGAIN>>>)
In fact Jllong had a whole thing on kickstarter counts as crons..
(dagnabbit now I've done that one too, thats it, imma gonna an hero with a shotgun myself now)
Barely even lurking..

I think what is happening here is that "W40K is too expensive..."

Maybe a solution would be for Matt to post the warriors on ebay, at a minimum bid of £40 for 40 warriors, and see how the auction goes.

The retail price for 12 warriors and 3 swarms is £21.97, so even if one had to strip and re-paint "rescued" models, you would be picking up the ones that were offered for almost half price. Plus, they are table top ready right out of the box, as it were.

Yeah but that's the point they aren't table top ready they are just painted.... Unless your buying from a commission painter that is willing to add units at your request or are going to try and paint them to the exact same colour and standard they are not going to be used as bought by anyone!

Well, I looked at Matt's like, and those warriors are painted to better than table top quality.

Regardless, the law of buy and sell dictates that the price for a particular item is dependent on what the buyer is willing to pay and what the seller is willing to settle for.

If no one wanted it, even the Hope diamond would be worthless.

Yep that is the problem sellers greed is only ever out done by the stupidity of people with to much money willing to pay more reguardles of the items worth.

Yes I'd rather the cost of my hobby be cheeper. No it's not so expencive that I feeling like walking away. But I don't like the current state of the second hand market.

This should be the place that us as hobbist call our own. Swapping armies or flat out just passing on unwanted models used to be the norm. I know many old school players that got in to the hobby through hand-me-downs. This has now all but gone in todays community with anything going cheep getting bought up not to be used but to be resold at an inflated price. Not just by individuals but by shops and online retailers (Waaugh games anyone!) squeezing more profit from an industry deemed overly expencive. Reguardless of the "laws of retail" that deem this kind of behaviuor acceptable I feel it's immoral and does more damage to the community than good.
