Commander Ghast

For discussing new rules and changes to the current rules, such as new homebrew datasheets for Apocalypse

Commander Ghast

Postby Antubis » Thu Jan 24, 2008 1:35 am

Here are the rules for Commander Ghast. I made them as I was board and thought the Thousand Sons could do with a Special Character besides Ahriman who was exiled. Feel free to use as long as you say I made him. I'll post a backstory when I get more time.

Stats are the same as a Chaos Lord.

Commander Ghast
180 Pts

Unit Type
Infantry

Wargear:
Terminator Armour
Personal Icon
Kai Gun
Warpblade
Mark of Tzeentch

Special Rules:
Fearless
Independent Character
Ghost Whisperer
Unique

Kai Gun
Range 24" Strength 6 AP 3 Type Assault 2

Warpblade
Counts as Daemon weapon plus any psychic power that targets Ghast, any unit he has joined or any unit they are in base contact with triggers Perils of the warp. Includes defensive powers e.g. Vail of tears, Warptime.

Ghost Whisperer
Any unit of Thousand Sons Ghast joins gains the move through cover rule.
"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. "

Is it just me or does ghost whisper cost him 20 points?
I think I need a little clarity.. is the intent behind the fluff that move through cover means that the rubric unit he joins slow and purposeful is always done on 3 dice picking the highest? (I might just say that instead of adding to the cross referencyness) Beware defensive weapons and targetting, I'm sure Tim and murph will pop up at some stage (if anyone is around this week) to say how strange they are (see collar and stuff threads throughout seer). Maybe you should use more the rules for the null rod (demonhunters)+then add on a range addon e.g. synapse veil etc do not work within 18" of the null (where is that witchhunter fella he was all over the fluff of nulls)

I'd like to see him do something to hoods to, but I can't think how, and it would probably bounce up the points so maybe ignore that. (a librarian within 12" who tries to hood any power gets a POTW  )

Its darned nice, a little restrained for my uber tastes, but I think that probably lends it a bit of class.
Barely even lurking..

For the ghost whisperer rule my intrepretation would be that they no longer roll to move through cover.

yes, VoT, Conceal etc open a can of worms.

it would probably be quite unfair too: all he has to do is declare he is going to try and shoot some Harlies and he gets a 2+ roll to kill the Shadowseer outright! 8O

why not just borrow some Eldar rules (like RoWarding)?

hope that helps :)

p.s. yes, Move Through Cover would give them 3D6 pick highest for their Slow & Purposeful move (which would still apply even if the Sorceror in the unit died, as Commander Ghast has the MoT)

Working it out Ghost whisper cost 5 pts and the Kai Gun costs 10 pts.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my intentions, with VoT and other defensive powers the Warblade only kicks in in B2B e.g. when he charges or is charged they suffer PoTW. :)
