Where does it say they can't?

Postby timewizard » Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:03 pm

Here's another interesting argument that degenerated into a p&$*%ing match on Warseer.
http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114075
What's your take on this? I'm just amazed that some people can't grasp the fact that just because the rules say you can not do something doesn't mean you can!

PS-On another note, how do I post a link instead of copying and pasting the web site?

Thanks

Assaulting through Skimmers.

It's a rather pointless arguement that I stopped following some time ago.

Unfortunately, many rules discussions on some of the forums degenerate into posters running circles around each other with no answer ever being reached.
I guess some folks just can't take no for an answer (as in, "No, you can't do that, the rules don't allow it.") and figure they can wear you down by repetition and going off on tangents.
Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions

What, that everyone is entitled to theirs? I don't believe that because the rules don't say they are...

...sorry, almost slipped into Warseer mode there.

Oh dear.
Something similar is brewing in Bolter & Chainsword.

Apparently some of them can't understand rules written in English?
Oh and quite possibly can't add up.

To paraphrase an old saying.
"Opinions are like A-holes.
Some boards just have more of them." :D

My skimmers tend to sit on the smaller uprights, and therefore 'hover' less than 1" off the tabletop.

Good lick charging underneath it, since you would be getting closer than 1" to the model you aren't charging.

I think the reason so many people have a problem with this is a logic disconnect in the rules. We all know they are there, but some people can't get around them.

In this case it seems illogical that a vehicle which can be shot through and can fly over things, cannot be walked under. If I were writing the rules they would either block line of sight or you would be able to move through them as long as you did not end up under them.

As it stands though, I agree you can't move through a skimmer. It makes assaulting from Wave serpents a real pain since you can't hide behind them, and they are 7" long so you also can't get to HTH in the turn you disembark without a good fleet roll. I really dislike the 4th ed transport rules. If you didn't have to sit in the transport for a turn while your opponent tries to kill you I think you'd see fewer of the much reviled falcon.

Heh. Here is another example:
last post on drop pod disembarking

He just could not accept that the last FAQ answer in the new BA codex forces you to disembark on the turn you arrive.

Meh. Have Fun!

Wouldn't you also follow the drop pod rules from the SM codex? The only changes would be the ones specified. The point cost is higher, and it looks like there is no option for a deathwind, other than that, the BS and armor are identical.
I can argue as well as the next fellow if I feel that I am right, but if you point out where I made a mistake like with a page number or a rules reference (thank you Tim :D ), I am man enough to admit my error and move on.
Some people can't seem to grasp the simple concept that; if you ask a question, just because you don't like or agree with the answer, doesn't mean it's wrong!
Just my thoughts.
