Lost a box of figures ...

Postby Spack » Sat Aug 09, 2014 4:45 pm

After a few hours of digging through my 40k collection looking for some very specific figures, namely the Skullz Limited Edition Adeptus Mechanicus, I've come to the conclusion that has a box is missing from where it should be. It could be somewhere else in the attic, but I've got a lot of stuff up there and not a lot of room to move it around in, and it'd probably take me a few weeks to shift it all around. Going through all the other boxes I've figured out what's missing in total, and it's about the right amount to fit into a single box - the 9 AdMech limited figures, a few RT era techpriests and servitors, all my IG Stormtroopers (the metal ones that GW tend to paint black and red for DH armies), and most of my Grey Knights in power armour. I'm hoping I've simply misplaced the box they're in somewhere in the attic, as the other possibility leaves me with no chance of finding them - the last time I took that box out of the house was at one of the AoS meetups 4 years ago!! I do have a vague feeling that I took the box out of the attic a year or two ago to take photos, so I'm hoping I just put the box in the wrong place and other stuff got put on top of it.

Anyone else lost/misplaced an important part of their collection?

Not an important part, but I remain completely mystified as to the location of my human Dreadball team, which I misplaced the day after I started assembling it.

I assume it's doing the same thing and playing hide and seek in my loft.

Every time I tidy up my work space I lose something. I lost Farsights shield several times before it was glued in place. As soon as I find that safe place to keep stuff I forget where that space is. It's like it just suddenly disappears from the universe the very second I turn my back. My biggest (and I mean most annoying not costly) loss though was some Blood Angel transfer sheets from FW. I took them to club to give someone the Flesh Tearers decals and got so engrossed in my game I forgot to pick them up. They got left to be never seen again I've still not replaced them and I've not painted any BA units since (except the Felblade).

The soulution is to repurchase the single most important item of the missing ones.... The missing box will magically reappear at that point!

I once left a figure case at our old gaming club. The club moved and forgot about the case. Skip forward a couple of years and I was in my local GW when the person who own the building we used to have the club came in. He said he found this case when they were having a clear out. Turned out it was my case. Funny old world!

I ordered the new space hulk when it came out, couldn't fit it in my baggage to go back to my unit, gave it to my mate to pick up at a later date, still haven't done so, however every other month I send him a fb msg stating it's mine and I will collect! :p

Also, dan, you can't lose the skullz ad mech, otherwise how am I going to steal them of you in the future....wasn't it 4yrs ago I was eyeing them up in your house....or was that even longer ago??

When I find them I'll be installing a safe in the attic and locking them in so I know exactly where they are. Those are going to pay for my retirement :p

You should just ship to me and I will keep them 'safe' for you. How much more safe can you get that in AZ?

Haha, it was all good back then. Nowadays I'm sure they would try and sell them back to me.
