So after test painting 5 Sons of Horus models and liking what I did, I jumped in and bought myself a force of Sons of Horus as my birthday present to myself.
Put the order into Forgeworld for 45 Mk III Armour, Phobos Boltguns, 10 Plasma Guns, Sons of Horus shoulder pads, 2 Apothecaries and the Loken & Abbaddon box set. As I was putting such a big order in I decided to also pick up two Spartan Tanks and the Ferrus Manus Primarch model (see these models in a later blog).

Should have enough for a 1500pts+ force, swap in 2 Plasma Guns into each 20 Man Squads and ready to use as Chaos Space Marine Force.

This weekend I started on the Tactical Space Marines, washed and cleaned up the models; started fixing them together.

Start of by cutting shapes out of various sizes of balsa wood. And stack them up gluing them into your desired size/shape.





Then cover the whole thing with Quick Drying Polyfilla. I thought this was a good idea :-

So it was our 2nd Wedding Anniversary 6th November, and my Amazing Wife bought my a couple model kits
A 1/72 scale B-17 Flying Fortress :- long story short, I collected WW2 aircraft when I was a kid. Always wanted the B-17 and never had one :/
And a 1/48 scale F-14 Tomcat :- my favourite 'modern' aircraft.

I've painted these to a higher standard than when I was younger obviously, but not going to my 40k levels.

Combining my interest in WW2, and my son's model railway, I've decided to build a WW2 era German Panzerzug train that can run on OO gauge tracks. My plan is to build a running train, utilising a second hand loco chassis (still scouring ebay for one that isn't too pricey) and axles (either new or stripped from damaged wagons), along with plasticard. I could make it easy and simple and convert an existing plastic kit but that's horrendously expensive. Available HO train kits tend to be resin based and cost a fortune. Scratchbuilding the should be pretty cheap, and allows for more customisation of the wagons to include. Who knows, maybe a Leopold railway gun will be included at some point in the future

First problem was finding blueprints of the locomotive and carriages, after a bit of digging around I managed to track down a copy of the Waldemar Trojca Panzerzug BP42/BP44 book which contains a few...

For the Panzerzug train I also want to add a Leopold railway gun, and I've put together a basic model to add to the Sketchup model of the train. It's pretty long at around 34cm (the travelling mode of the real gun was 30m long, which scales to 344mm at 1:87 scale so the Sketchup model is pretty much spot on ), and may have trouble going around corners - although I might be able to mitigate the problems by using only 2 pairs of flanged wheels in each bogie, so that they act as a pair of long wheelbase railcars at each end supporting the gun carriage.
