1/72 BF 109 Propeller Repair

by Spack on Sat Apr 13, 2013 2:00 pm
Some time ago my son and I built a Revell 1/72 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 model kit. The canopy has not been glued on as I wanted him to paint it first, but it ended up sitting on a shelf for months and at some point one propeller blade has broken off and been lost. This month my son wants to paint it, so it's time to repair it as it'll look odd with only two blades instead of three. I was first going to try to use some plasticard to repair it, but that was a non-starter as the blade is very thin and has a twist to it that would be extremely to replicate in this way.

Luckily I have some Oyamru "instant mold" that I bought a few years ago, and has previously been used in other projects. This stuff is great, as it's a thermal setting plastic - when it's put in boiling water for about a minute it goes very soft, and then hardens as it cools. Once cool it holds a perfect impression of the item it has been molded around. I couldn't find any "green stuff" putty kicking...

Predator P1 Bio 1/4 scale 3D modelling continued

by Spack on Thu Mar 26, 2015 9:01 pm
Initial modelling details can be found in blog/Spack/predator_bio_mask_14_scale_modelling_b-176.html

I finally got around to working on the 3D model again, and have reached a point where I'm happy with the details and have prepared the model for printing. As well as finishing the interior venting details, the hose connector on the left temple was replaced with something closer to that used on the NECA Big Red figure (the Big Red bio is almost identical to the original P1 helmet, the only differences being the two half spheres on the forehead and the colour), and a small hose connector detail was added to the left cheek (this detail is missing from the NECA bios).

Helghast 7th Army (IG)

by Jay on Tue Jun 07, 2011 4:31 pm
I've been building my IG steadily over the course of 4 years (blimey!) and for the most part it's been neglected, unpainted and a mess of unfinished models. No more! I've always wanted to do a sci-fi inspired army (my initial forays was to mimic the Starship Troopers of the TV show or the Halo marines) This lead to half my army being painted then being stripped after falling out with these scheme. Thus my search to create the perfect Helghast Army started in Summer 09. To that end I have stripped, dissembled nearly all my models, I bought pig iron Kolony heads, a bunch of Elysian stuff and some Helghan inspired models from war factory (I've also ordered some nice custom conversion bits from max minis). After several tests schemes I've settled on what I want, got me plenty of bits for modeling and now I've committed myself to painting 2000pts worth of units (minus vehicles) by September!

So stay tuned as I update with pictures

Horus Heresy & Malifaux

by DaBoss on Thu Jan 02, 2014 6:18 pm
Had another good day of painting with my son.

I managed to Biel-Tan Ink Wash my Sons of Horus.
003.JPG

Notice: I've added the Brass etched Sons of Horus Symbols to the Spartans.
Next I need to Dry Brush them with Dawnstone to lighten the Green Wash to match the test 5 I painted last year.
Still waiting for the Sponsons for the Spartans

Then we both spent some time painting up my next crew for Malifaux (actually Bradley quite likes them but using Somer Teeth Jones)
Here is what I've got finished for Ophelia Crew:

Ophelia Master
2 Bayou Gremlins
2 Slop Haulers
4 Piglets
2 Stuffed Piglets
2 War Pigs

Bradley is painting up the other 5 Bayou Gremlins and Somer.

I think Ophelia will be on the table for tomorrows game of Malifaux 50 Soulstones.
