So this last weekend I went along to Conflict 2011 - a new type of FoW event, instead of Tournament based line ups, each Player had to decide if they were going to be on the either the Allies or Axis side; armies and scenery would be themed to be Normandy & 'Hells Highway' era's.

So I decided to throw in with the Germans and planned out 4 lists to try my skills with:
1 - FestungKompanie defending the Atlantic Wall
2 - PanzerKompanie racing to intercept the invading Allies.
3 - Schwere PanzerKompanie defiantly blocking the Allies advance.
Day 2 - my FallschirmjagerKompanie led by Von der Heydte would try and inflict as much damage on the Allied forces pushing towards Arnhiem.

A great weekend was had, managed to win 3 games of the 5. But really liked the theme that the weekend promoted in peoples armies.

Next Year sounds like it might be a Bagration Themed event - so I might have to pull out the Russian hordes for that one.

Whilst I'm at Salute, thought I may as well use my discount from buying Dwarf King's Hold to pick up some Mantic Undead Revenant Cavalry and Dwarf Shieldbreakers, so I ordered them for pick-up.

Some time ago when I first started building the model railway for my son I said I could add street lights to the layout. I duly spent hours making 2 very simple street lights, but this was somewhat lacking especially as they were quite dull. Today I finally removed them, and installed 20 white LEDs in street lights, station lights, and some interior lighting in buildings. These LEDs were prewired and had resistors fitted ready to use with 12V DC power (which I already had thanks to a left over Netgear router power supply), and cost less than buying the component parts to build myself. After 6 solid hours of work today the lighting is complete!

Take one bendy straw and trim it down to size. Bend a prewired LED, and slide into the straw. Street light complete The station lights are made the same way but with much shorter poles.

The Crew - Rasputina, Ice Golem and the 3 Ice Gamin


Decided to go with a heavy Asurman Blue Ink wash on the Ice creatures with idea of dry brushing up with White to pick out the high detail and leave dark blue in the recesses.

So finally got round to adding some colour to Rasputina and her crew



Really loving painting these guys, taking my time adding layers of ink washes and highlights.

Still plenty to do...
