Welcome to the April 2013 Painter of the Month Competition.

Each contestant must submit a photo of an unopened box, unassembled model or unpainted model or models or submit a drawing or photo describing the project into the "Painter of the Month April 2013" thread. Primed only models are acceptable but completely unprimed models are preferred. All genres of modeling are acceptable; i.e. any 40K, WFB, LOTR, FoW, plastic, metal, paper or collectable model as well as any scratch built project including terrain pieces. On the 15th of month, a list will be posted by one of the moderators listing all eligible contestants for that month's competition. No entries will be accepted after that post. No exceptions.

During the month, wip photos can be put into the thread, and in fact are encouraged, but may not be placed in the competition gallery.

All completed entries must be submitted between the 15th and the 26th of April and must posted in the competition gallery. No entries will be accepted after midnight GMT on the 26th. Only one entry per person will be permitted and the entry will consist of a single photo. Multiple images on the photo are allowable but if more than one photo is uploaded to the gallery at any time, the entrant will be disqualified.

Voting will be held from April 27th until midnight GMT on April 29th. At that time voting will be closed and the winners will be announced.

Every registered member of the site may vote. The total number of votes each member may cast will depend on the number of entrants.

The first place winner will be named the "Painter of the Month" and will be listed on the site. In addition, first place gets 3 points, 2nd place 2 points and third place 1 point.

In the event of a tie for any place or position, both entrants will receive the appropriate number of points. At the end of the year a "Painter of the Year" as well as the 2nd and 3rd place finishers will be announced. The winner will be determined by the total number of points received throughout the year.
If an entrant has not completed their project by the deadline, they may still enter the contest. The only requirement is to post the entry by the deadline. The members of the site have the final word after all!

We are still working on getting prizes for the year end winners. More on that as it becomes known.

Plastic Soldier Company tiger. Going to build it as a late version, and might even try and make a diorama.

If an order from somewhere comes in in time, I might have more than one tank involved.

I've been wondering how the plastic soldier models compare to the flames of war ones.

No idea on FoW models, but I've bought boxes of the PSC T-34, PzIV, StuG, Panther, M4A2 Sherman, T-70 and Tiger.

Been really impressed with the amount of detail and quality of all of them.

about time there was another competition count me in how do you put ur name down to enter?

i have a special project in mind for this that ive been itching to try out, gunna try n make a bullock pattern imperial jetbike

This is a set of Khorne Beserkers that ive had lurking about for around 2 years, only ever painted 2 so i thought now would be a good time to start to get them done.

Time for me to jump in here.
I was digging around the model shop and came across a kit that I picked up, well....., quite some time ago.
So long ago in fact that I couldn't find the instruction sheet for it.
I had started to assemble it, but it got somehow forgotten in the land of time.
So now it is time to finish,

Luckily I was able to channel KMB and surf the interweb and find a pdf of the instruction sheet, which will greatly ease the final assembly.

So I officially have my model in the ring for this month's comp!

Just to answer Timewizards question regarding PSC and FoW tanks. I have 5 of each companys Panzer IV's and painted up on the table there is very little to tell them apart. That is until you pick them up and notice the significant weight difference

I believe the other big difference is cost.

Been a busy week, totally burnt out from covering another person's job at work as well as my own and then finally getting around to playing Uncharted 3 almost non-stop to completion (got to chapter 19 in one sitting on Wed night, finished it last night in a final 2 hour run to the end). Haven't sorted out what I'm painting yet, will try to do so over the weekend ... a box of Airfix 1/72 German WW2 infantry arrived in the post today, although I didn't realise how big they were compared to OO scale (which for the non-UK non-model railway people is 1/76 scale trains on 1/87 scale tracks, compared to the HO scale of 1/87 scale for both models and tracks), I thought they'd be close enough that it would be hard to tell. I might have to scale up the 1/87 German train project to 1/76 or 1/72 as I'd intended to use them on and around the train I'm tempted to paint up a unit of them, but they're quite a bit smaller than heroic 28mm ...

My son, ageofwar, hasn't got his model to paint yet though - I know it's here somewhere (an unpainted German BF 109 1/72 scale that we built last year), but I'm scratching my head trying to remember where I put it ...

Is it possible you left it in the hanger?

Didn't realize there'd be that much of a difference between 1/87 and 1/72 scale.

Nope, the 1/72 Spitfire he painted is in there, but the 109 is nowhere to be seen. Stranger and stranger ...

It's about 3mm difference in height between a OO scale figure (20mm) and 1/72 scale (23mm), which is about a whole head difference in height. It's certainly noticeable. Gets worse with tanks - the 1/72 Tiger II I built is way bigger than the 1/87 Tiger I.

Unlikely - I borrowed it to play the single player campaign, I'm in the queue to borrow Tomb Raider off the same guy at work and had already played UC 1 & 2 so thought I might as well give 3 a go. I don't play much online any more, other than World of Tanks the only other games in the past decade were Buccaneer, the Dawn of War open beta, and prior to that the 18 months I spent as part of the test team for the DesertCombat mod for BF1942.
