still needs a little work, namely, the tuft on the back, the feet, the beak and eyes

the pictures make it look white in places, but i assure you! the only white on it is a little spotting around the tail, and the trim for the fire trails, the rest is just very very very bright yellow (think it was 5:1 white:yellow at one point)

will work on it a little more tomorrow, then hopefully get some more work done on the base

Nearly finished sly marbo. Just a wash and a high light, plus the base to go.

Nice work so far Talus.

@Angelwing - good to hear.
I've got mine half primed.
Still a long way to go.

the competition gallery folder isn't open I think. I also think close up photography ruins a miniature. My entry looks so bloody rough in the photos. it looks fine when viewed in the real world though...

There were a few threads around a while back about how to take pics.. would you like some help (we could start a P+M thread just on camera stuff pre and post etc if you want)..basically decent camera (not expensive just not one built into a 80s phone), moderate backround..( I think Matt and TW uploaded some blue hews to print that worked as backdrops-I'm not a fan of blue but meh).. control the flash..(I use 1 thin layer of bog roll over the flash to defuse the light).. etc etc The list can be long and off topicy though if everyone lists every tip.

You will however suffer from super HD itus that suddenly you can spot all the wrinkles and blemishes on that perfect weather girls face though.. thats why all those ninja painter peeps are awesome.. there stuff actually looks ok with washed out lazy photography. (Washes/dips etc are my friend when it comes to that stuff)
Barely even lurking..

Oh, I know how to photograph the stuff, it just looks like I used a 3 inch brush to paint it.

wip, I started with the germans, mainly because I had all the colours at hand as ive been painting my bolt action germans.
the figures are very nice, detailed and come pre-primed. the only drawback is that they are rubberized plastic which means that while you cant break them, and you can manipulate some of the poses, there is an issue with bendy weapons.
I started with the panzergrenadiers and the leader figure, the troopers were painted in the same colours as late war germans the leader I wanted to paint slightly differently, I started with dark greys and worked my way lighter.
the next figures I painted were the heavy armoured troopers. I used the same colours the germans painted their tanks in early war, with the heavy laser grenadiers painted the same as tank destroyers (slightly darker) and the fliegerfausts a lighter colour based on the german feldgrau of the late war period.
the walker started out with a base coat of adeptus battlegrey, with layer of codex grey, then a wash of army painter strong tone. a bit of drybrushing of fortress grey and I added some sand to the base to create a textured surface for later. I finished off by texturing the bases on the other figures.
overall quite pleased with my progress, ive got to finish the germans with highlighting and detail work and then sort my bases out, so ive got a lazy sunday of painting to get the germans finished. then to start on the Allies......

well both birds are nearly done, really just detailing left

ImageImageImageImage

the base isnt far off either, just gotta get the colouring right! pics when its done

also a nice comparison between the two patterns =)

i did plan for purple tips on the frost bird wings, but i couldnt get it thinned properly for the airbrush, and if i'd taken a paint brush to it, well the effect would have just... not been right

more soon!

They look...how you say...just pants.

Nah, they really look terrific!
Can't wait to see how they look when you've finished highlighting them! ;)

Another month I won't be entering due to burn out over GTA V (haven't got the game, work related thing), severe lack of sleep (to the point where I left work at 4pm today thinking it was Thursday only to get home and find it was Wednesday and have to then drive straight back to work, as my flexihours are that I finish 6pm on Mon-Wed!). Lucky for you entrants I'm not able to join in, I'd have won it hands down this month with my entry (at least the way I visualise it in my head, the reality would be a blobby blob but I can dream, can't I?). Will do my very best to enter next month, promise.
