Halloween Special

Halloween Special

Postby timewizard » Tue Sep 30, 2014 11:13 pm

This month we have a special “treat” for you all. It’s a special event, and we’ll be trying to bother Spack to come up with a special medal for this one. The “trick” is to come up with a Halloween based entry. Something spooky, scary, creepy, kooky, weird or eerie, the choice of horror is up to you. The type of thing that goes bump in the night, sends chills down your spine, or just plain scares the crap out of you! It is that time of the year when the boys and “ghouls” come out to play and beg for candies through the neighborhood. It’s time for the….

Halloween Special

Rules are as follows (FOR THE ESSENTIALS ONLY, SCROLL DOWN TO THE RED TEXT)

Each contestant must submit a photo of an unopened box, unassembled model or unpainted model or submit a drawing or photo describing the project into the “Building Competition” thread by October the 15th. Primed only models are acceptable but completely unprimed models are preferred. Direct casts or re-casts of any copyrighted material will result in the post being deleted and the poster being disqualified for that month’s contest.

A list will be posted by one of the moderators in this post listing all eligible contestants for the month's competition. No entries will be accepted or can be changed after the 15th of October. No exceptions.

During the month, wip photos can be put into the thread, and in fact are encouraged, but may not be placed in the competition gallery.

All completed entries must be submitted by the 28th of October and must posted in the competition gallery and no entries will be accepted after midnight GMT on that date. Only one entry per person will be permitted and the entry must consist of a single image. Multiple photos on the image are allowable but if more than one photo is uploaded to the gallery by any one entrant at any time, that entrant will be disqualified.

If an entrant has not completed their project by the deadline, they may still enter an incomplete entry if desired, but it will of course be judged as such. The only requirement is to post the entry by the deadline. The members of the site have the final word after all!

Voting will be held from just after midnight October 28th until midnight GMT on October 30th. At that time voting will be closed and the winners will be announced.

Every registered member of the site may vote. The total number of votes each member may cast will depend on the number of entrants as follows;
Up to 5 entries - 1 vote per registered member
6 to 10 entries - 2 votes per registered member
More than 10 entries - 3 votes per registered member
You can change your vote(s) until the poll is closed. No poll results will be revealed (even to the moderators) until the poll has closed.

ESSENTIALS:

This month is an “almost anything goes”….. but, and it’s a big but, the entry has to be Halloween themed. Anything from the horror genre is acceptable, be it from your favorite horror movie, to something you dreamed up from your warped and twisted imagination! If you’re thinking entering a demon, think about making it more “demonic” than just a regular game piece. If you want to enter a building, it should be a haunted house or a horror movie themed house. If it’s a single figure, something along the lines of the Headless Horseman would be appropriate. Oh, and please, no carved pumpkins! All entries are subject to the usual approval by the committee, which this month will be a council of 13! So put those thinking caps on, chop up a body or 2, and get ready for a howling good contest!

Entry open until October 15th
Contest closes Midnight October 30th
ONE entry per person

We look forward to seeing your entries! Good luck to all the entrants.

ENTRANTS SO FAR:

Timewizard - Bates Mansion
Talus - L4D2 team (Bill, Zoey, Francis, Louis) and 3 martians
Darklighter - Hellboy vignette/diorama

Maybe I can beat out Talus and be the first this month!

For this Halloween, a kit I've wanted to do for quite some time,

The Bates Mansion from "Psycho"!

Now I just need to get my entry approved. ;)

EDIT: I hit the submit button as the clock struck 7:00, even though it says 6:59.

Not sure if I have anything for this. I think all my undead models are painted. I'll have a rummage.

I have a few idea floating around one is a skellington based diorama that might take more time than I have this month to finish or the other is a Hellboy model I've had for ages not getting painted..... I'm quite tempted to get Hellboy done like.

That was the intent of these competitions from the start. Give us all a reason to get those old forgotten kits off the shelf and finally finished.

FWIW, I'd love to see a Hellboy figure model.

Ok I've decided that I'll do Hellboy in a possible vignette/diorama, if I get the time that is!

I thought they looked like Hasslefree's stuff but wasn't sure. I've got all sorts of progress done this afternoon! I'll put some pictures up either later tonight or tomorrow... I've not got time right now before heading to the gym, then I'm of to RP. Busy busy busy, lol!

These are some preliminary mock up shots to see about composition. I quite like the standing stone grave site of a lone warrior King rather than my original plan for a mass grave of reanimated corpses. I think this way will give me enough time to work on the details.
