I should have started sorting this some time ago, but work and home life has taken over a lot recently. Anyway, back to the subject - meetup in Summer this year.

Checking the WHW events calendar the only weekend free in August is the 7th/8th. The only other weekend free in summer hols is Sep 4th/5th. Both of these weekends are down as "open gaming" in the WHW calendar which tends to mean no table bookings though, but I will see if there's any flexibility in that. There are a couple of tournaments on during the hols, and all the other weekends in July and August are listed as either very busy or busy.

So, who's free which weekends? Would everyone be available on the 7th/8th/9th August (that's Sat/Sun/Mon)?

That weekend is fine, but the sooner it's decided, the sooner I can book holiday and the better chance I'll get it.

Sooner it's decided I can get my wife to book holiday too If she doesn't, then chances are I won't make it on the Sunday.

7th/8th is fine (well, apart from the hangover I'll be packing from my friends' wedding on the 6th.....)

Oh, that reminds me. Are we going with Sat/Sun/Mon, like the Feb meetup? Obviously Baragash can't make Fri 6th, and a Monday would be much easier for me too.

The 7th/8th of August looks good to me (family holiday starts the following weekend).
So count me in, as I'm missing this Feb's meetup due to over booking Gaming weekends in the coming 3 months.

Just spoke to Andy at WHW events (he rang me about next weekend so I started asking about free weekends in the Summer), and the 7th/8th is put aside for "open gaming" which means normally no booking tables. All the other weekends are out (June to Sep) - they're all either fully booked or have only 1 or 2 tables free. Andy's going to ask the WHW store about how many tables they expect to need, and if we could have a few put aside, and will be getting back to me later today. Either way it looks like the 7th/8th is the only weekend we can turn up and play, even if does mean having no tables booked, but when he calls me back I'll let everyone know what's going on.

7th 8th August highly possible.. I generally long term can make fridays a lot easier than mondays.. (can offload the kids at fri lunch to get there).
My misses will be finishing her job at some point in early august and I have no idea whether it will be unemployment, tidying up last job or self employment that will be going on that specific time frame.. but the sat sun *should* be good.
Checked the calender- will be away until the 14th Sorry peeps, I might actually miss one.

Sep 4th/5th- sets off all sorts of alarm bells about term starting on the monday or something..

I'm the reverse - I can make Mondays much easier than Fridays, as my wife works Friday evenings at the moment. While I could come up on a Friday, I'd have to leave at about 2pm to get home in time for her to go to work, and then drive back up again on Sat morning/

Sorry to hear you can't make it though, unfortunately other than the 4th/5th Sept every weekend after the 7th/8th August is fully booked at WHW, I did press them about every weekend and in each case it was a "sorry, all tables are booked".

arrghhhhh!! Well this feb is looking less likely for me (ill let you know) anyway, ive filled mat in with the details.

I know already ive got loads on in August so ill go with the popular choice and try my damned hardest to get there!!

I can confirm that we can't book tables for either 7/8 August or 4/5 Sept, they are both open gaming weekends which means it's first come first served. Looking at the WHW calendar, and discussing with the events team last week, there are no weekends left this year which we could book tables on! Even the yellow weekends I was told were too busy to book tables on.

I still think 7/8/9 August is our best bet, and if we all turn up at opening time we can grab tables next to each other.

if that's the only thing available, i think we should do that. I'm sure we can talk to our contact at GW; Matt, and see if he can't make sure we get in a couple of minutes before everyone else, to secure those corner tables again for us all.

Do you get to keep them all day though, or do uget one game and have to vacate?

I'm pretty sure they said we can play all day if we grab tables, it's just that they can't reserve tables for us on the Sat and Sun. We can reserve tables on the Monday though.

Yes, if we do a Friday. However, I can't - I can do the Monday though.

BTW, Matt Lincoln came to talk to me on the Sunday to ask how much the pizzas were you guys ordered in on the Saturday night. He said if we tell them in advance next time, they can make pizza up for us in the evening to save having to call out for it.

Should be good for me - will have to check the calender though...
