AoS Objective Marker Competition #4 - Power Generator

Postby Spack » Tue Mar 10, 2009 5:19 pm

UPDATE: Voting is now closed!

And the winners are:

1st: Jimster
2nd: Bugbait_nz
3rd: Spack

Objective Marker Competition #4 - Power Generator

Rules

- Entrants must be registered with the Age of Strife site, so if you're just browsing then please register to be eligible to enter.

- Closing date for entries is 2359 GMT on Monday 20th April 2009.

- The base size should be of a reasonable size for use in a game - the suggestion is no larger than a CD/DVD (around 12cm diameter). They must start as plain bases with no pre made stuff on them (so no Dreadnought bases, for instance). Standard GW 25mm, 40mm, and 60mm bases are also acceptable.

- One entry per person. It must be painted.

- WIP Photos are up to the people themselves, helps keep the thread alive and makes others worry if they are behind (WIP in this thread only)

- Publish WIP photos in this topic, final entry photo in the assigned gallery album http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/AoSCommunity06

- ONLY ONE PHOTO PER ENTRY ALLOWED IN THE COMPETITION ALBUM! If you want to show more views of it, just create a collage with all the pics in a single uploaded image. If you don't know how to do this, feel free to PM Spack and if there's enough time help may be provided. Uploading multiple pictures may result in disqualification, or at the very least dispatch of an Inquisitor (with fully armed Retinue) to your current location.

- Once the entry date has passed voting will run for 7 days. You will be able to vote for your top three favourites! Choose wisely as you will only get one chance to vote. NO VOTING FOR YOUR OWN ENTRY!!! (dispatch of Inquisitor, blah blah ...).

- All entrants are required to vote for 3 other entries (assuming at least 4 entries, otherwise required vote number is 1 less than the number of entries ;)). Failure to vote for 3 other entries may result in disqualification, or despatch of Inquisitor (yadda yadda ...)

- Prize: the winner will get to choose the subject of the next competition from the remaining list of objective marker options. That's it, there's no money, no figures, no shiny badge. You do get to brag to your mates that you won a competition and the winners will be posted in the forums so you'll even have proof. :)

- In the event of a tie for 1st place on total points the winner will be one with the most 1st place votes, followed by most 2nd place, and then 3rd. In the event of a dead heat, winners will be required to meet at a gladiatorial ring of their choosing and will fight to the death while jeering aliens (who look uncannily human) look on and loud music is playing.

- Judges decision will be final. No amount of cajoling, arguing, threatening or other forms of intimidation will change the result. Large sums of non-sequential bank notes left inconspicuously under the AoS server with a note of the winners name might however be viewed favourably.

To give an idea of what is expected, you can see the results of
Competition #1 - Command Centre
Competition #2 - Medicae Facility
Competition #3 - Fuel Dump

No Dan - not under the server - that's what set it on fire last time!

for those interested, the CoD rulebook says:
Power Generator Strategem
Many races provide their forces with prefabricated power sources, or they patch into existing conduits found amidst the ruins. These are used to drive autoloaders and power feeds to their maximum capacity, or to overcharge laser-based weaponry, allowing all types of weapons to sustain a prodigious rate of fire

(ruleswise this allows a friendly unit within the ruin to re-roll failed to-wound rolls)

hope that helps get the creative juices flowing... :D

cheers!

p.s. ive got a resin power generator that has been waiting years to be painted, so i think its time i dusted it off...

yes, this is still on (at least, as far as I know - no one has said it is cancelled :)).

I am entering, but I havent had time to start yet (mine is pretty straightforward so should hopefully only take a weekend).

Yes, it's still on. I'm planning on getting mine over the Easter holiday, I've got next week off work so plenty of time to get one done before the deadline this time. Expect me to panic build on the last day again though :P

bugbait_nz, welcome to the site. The more entries the merrier, looking forward to seeing more members entering this time. Feel free to post WIP pics in this thread.

Thanks guys
I have a cunning plan for a CD, clear plastic sheet, old selotape roll, foamboard, wire, ultra bright LED and a "bar stool"

First WIP, not much but you get the idea.

I cant find the recommended pic size in the FAQ, any clues or will it be auto-resized? this one is less than 600x600.
