There were rumblings of some Apoc, is this a non-starter now?

KInG asked for an Apoc table but it's not a certainty we will get one.

Everyone I know about who is coming should be on the list. Anyone who isn't on the list should let me know!

I've seen two table lengthways used well by kings lot twice (2on2) (fairly bloody fairly quick but looked good)...The book says 4x8 works for up to 5k a side (so thats what I'm planning on doing at mine when i face LH (easier faster) I reckon you could actually fit more on depending on force composition/use of reserves.. yes you loose using the awesome cathedral lord of the rings castle (meh, nothing balances on those tables), it does leave a foot at the end of each table for keeping stuff handy(DSing pile etc)... :D
If you can find a time between the tourney, my game vs wolflord,spacehulk..then I'm up for something daft this time round.. if you want to start organising it/smashing some rules together, baragash :D

If there's interest I don't mind doing it. Would start from the rules from last time though, they seemed to work pretty well.

What day are you thinking of, time?
Baragash wrote:If there's interest I don't mind doing it. Would start from the rules from last time though, they seemed to work pretty well.
What were they?

Some quick houserules I just thought up were;
Limit on number of non wyswyg models/wargear due to the add complexity of how much stuff is on the table.
Imperial armour apoc added ap1 as a +1 to super heavys damage table, sounds sensible.
30-40 minute per sides turn limit.
Avoiding the assets generally.
Blasts may hit a flyer IF (after the distance has been worked out (-12" etc) a hit is rolled and the die faces after BS reduction (if applicable) equals 4 or less. So a meq plasma cannon that hits and dice equal 8 may roll to penetrate, A guard leman russ blast has a hit on the scatter dice and requires a 7 or less on the 2D before it is able to roll to penetrate. (based on the idea that in testing etc spack said blasts used to be able to hit flyers) This one just popped in there pretty much based on the valkerie warseer fight me and spack were trying to resolve
as per RAW Troops hold objectives.
Printed lists only.
?FOC apply or just rule of fluff/allies matrix, or no limits?
?Benefits do or don't effect allies, shrike, hestan, orders, inspiring baneblades techmarines fixing stuff.
?cap on number of X (super heavys, datasheets, models)?

Objectives to make game more fun.1 point(counts as objective for each on top of territorial objects)
Killing out right the most points expensive unit in the opposition’s army.
Having a clear deployment zone with no enemy’s inside it.
Holding all of the objectives in the enemy’s deployment zone.
Holding all objectives in your no mans land and your deployment zone.

At the risk of complicating things...

It seems to be far the simplest way, to say no to abilities effecting allies.

But, what about that effect "things" rather than models/units.

I haven't got the book here, so I can't check the wording, but a techmarine that bolsters defences, do only marines get the benefit and not the guardsmen in the same wood?

Or then you have , in apoc, the am I referring to a)my physical allies, Player Jim with his ork looted baneblade gets a hand from a techmarine ,b) a second detachment I have taken (so BA apocs can help smurfs) or c) am I referring to allys within the same detachment, e.g. sisters of battle allied within conventional rules..or those 9 troop choices (since there is no FOC) who just gained fleet.#

I suggested to LH that rule of cool was followed in ours, because we are following FOCs, and it would be silly to therefore say that a banblade exists outside his FOC and cannot benefit(inspire) his guard FOC.(but my explanation made him fall asleep at the keyboard)

These we definitely used:
  • 3k per player
  • No Destroyer weapons (not sure if this was said, or just turned out that way)
  • One stratagem per side
  • Each side can ban one stratagem for the opponents
  • 30 mins time limit per team turn

As for FoC, I would say follow it, but allow formations which don't get measured against the FoC?

As for effects, I would say "own side" effects only affect your own army (Fortune, Vulkan etc), but "general" effects work as normal (are there any apart from Bolster Terrain). As it happens, Bolster Terrain simply benefits anyone in that piece, including the enemy.

We're looking at 5-6 hours, so it needs to be Sun or Mon doesn't it? Max 6 players?

Not sure I get what you mean do you mean
A)Doesn't that provide an odd incentive for more assets?
I have used my 3 heavy slots, therefore for 50 points I can expand my heavy allowance by 3 predators, and as a side they are all twinlinked due the sheet that I've taken when shooting at X. (I'd take the speeder and 2 whirlies as well probably :D ) So for 80 points I may take 5+ more heavys because I am taken beneficial datasheets
or B) Super heavys (things not a unit in a typical FOC, e.g. in IA they don't say "it counts as an HQ choice in X) on top of 1 FOC per person.

i've suddenly worked out I might not actually be able to play. Can't commit to monday, sunday starts(?) me vs wolflord.. :eusa_think ...must muse.

Matt? The list is 17 strong which is a prob, but as I seem to be there as Ruffian4 and R4, it's ok.

Oh yeah, what might be a prob, is me getting teamed with that skinny, pony tailed reprobate and convicted arsonist/pillager of Rome, KMB!
I have the concern, that should this happen, we will cause some kind of dimensional rift and meltdown to the planets core.

Normally, that would be fine, but I am seriously hoping to see a naked lady in March.
Please can you help me?

I am trying to learn "ballroom" dancing, but I keep hearing "this is not a mosh pit! New partners please!"

I'm not comfortable with this at all and may have worms.

You do have worms! Though 1 less than you had previously!
