Kings of War Kickstarter - FIRST POST UPDATED

Kings of War Kickstarter - FIRST POST UPDATED

Postby mattjgilbert » Fri May 25, 2012 11:37 pm

Mantic have initiated a kickstarter campaign for KoW: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/174 ... ngs-of-war

UPDATE
The amount of stuff you get for pledging at pretty much any level is now insane.

If anyone wants to start KoW or just get stuff for an existing WHFB army or... hell, just to get a whole ton of models - you should seriously take a look at this kickstarter project. With every level they hit they give away more things so it's only going to get better. Best of all you don't have to decide exactly what you want until afterwards and all money you spend (total of pledge + rewards) counts for any of the "spend X and get Y included" bonuses.

And the bonuses are getting crazy.

KoW is going to be huge. Get on board now!

Whilst the project makes sense to me from a business point of view, I have no interest in backing something I can get anyway, and I have a load of models, so even with the good discount, no dice.

If they were to offer specific items (mummies, anything Elven though there's fat chance of that, unreleased dwarf stuff or converting existing stuff away from metal) as kickstarter projects that would be a different matter.

Based on the success of this one they probably will do. It's already broken its top stretch goal so plastic werewolves will be accelerated.

Do we know if they're "plastic" plastic or "restic" plastic?

I'd like to see them push any other stand-alone games they have planned through there. That would allow them to use their cash to drive Kings of War and Warpath.

Broadly though, I have to agree with AlexHolker's post on Warseer that they should be doing much more specific things in order to gather market data, and I hope this positive experience encourages them to do that.

I missed the 500 mark, so thought I'd wait and get the glory of tipping $85k, but I missed that too!?

This Kickstarter is going stella - Mantic will be HUGE! Love them, went to their first Open Day, will be going to their next one as well!

I can't make the next open day :'( I would have been demoing if I could. I'll be at the party on the 29th though and obviously at the Clash of Kings tournament in February.

Phil, the ratman list has been adjusted and is being reviewed for release along with the updated rules and points. I'll let you know when it's available.

Shame you can't make that, especially as you are a Pathfinder. Not sure about the tournament-will require an epic painting effort!?

What's the party on the 29th?

Glad to see the ratmen are under consideration-I might make it to the tournament yet!!
