Re: Stu's Red Scorpions / Thunderhawk build

Cripes! On a mission to get glue and other supplies, we wandered in to our local GW, and after chatting to the chap (who was really quite pleasant) for quite some time bout the horus heresy, black library and a whole host of other bits and pieces, me and the missus agreed to go up and have him run u...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions / Thunderhawk build

Thanks guys... Next step is the upper "attack wings" and mounting the engines + main wings. Got an idea on how to do it, but need to have a play with it before pushing on with it. (*note to self, next time 'frog is across, remember to steal some lascannons and bolters from him!) In the mea...

Re: froggys guard (VERY pic heavy)

Looking really good (even better when you see them all massed in the flesh) - glad the photos came out well. @ Matt, the two backgrounds are a pair of sci-fi desktop wallpapers printed onto sheets of a4 matt photo paper. The quality of the print isnt perfect, but when its pushed slightly out of focu...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions / Thunderhawk build

Had a quite productive day today, although not really with the Thunderhawk. Took advantage of the good light to take a whole raft of photos of 'froggies guard (tanks, valk and troops), then moved on to do a bit more on the base for culln and the dread (will take pics of them further down the line). ...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions / Thunderhawk build

Not really much to say about these. Rather than tackling any major additions as they'd need me to dremel the engines, i decided to add some detailing to the underside and upper body tail/cannon structure... http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&am...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions / Thunderhawk build

Long time no update, as Ive been away again on family duties and helping out with the missus' overtime. Had an hour or so last night and planning on doing a few more hours tonight (probably detailing the body rather than hacking the engines with the dremel - still working in the living room with mrs...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions

Cheers guys Have had a bit more time over the weekend while the missus was out shopping for wedding goodies. After building the main frame, I moved onto creating the tail, main wings and canards out of a couple of thin layers of plasticard wrapped around a thicker layer: http://www.ageofstri...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions

@Matt - it's based on a template that I found online a while back, so not sure how it relates to the current FW model. I mocked up a few sections in paper before starting and really like the scale of it next to the models. It also works quite well with the engines I managed to source on ebay (from t...

Re: Stu's Red Scorpions

Hell it seems like its been an age, but with some pretty serious family stuff goin on I havent had much time to dedicate to the project. Ive had a couple of hours tonight tho, so with scalpel and glue in hand, I had a play with some plasticard and ended up with this shell so far. Pic posted with Cul...

Stu's Red Scorpions / Thunderhawk build

Right. As a motivational tool, and a handy way of getting some feedback on what I'm upto, I'm planning on posting here fairly regularly with updates to the Red Scorpions Project I mentioned elsewhere. I dont really have a list to work to **yet** as Im coming back to the hobby after a looooong time o...

Re: W.I.P - Culln

Havent really thought much about the base yet, although I do like the idea of some kind of rock formation. Will have to have a serious think as I'm getting towards that stage of the process ;)

Re: *pokes head in and says hi*

For sure - we went down to the Black Library Live event a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I think we're planning on going to the FW event at the end of March as well. We're not quite up to the gaming side of things **yet** tho....
