White Dwarf goes weekly? Why?

Postby RotweillerofJustice » Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:40 pm

So on the GW site today it says that White Dwarf will now be weekly from 1st Feb. Apparently for the same price as a pot of paint.
They will also be releasing a new mag Warhammer Visions.

I'm a bit sceptical about all this. I'm happy getting White Dwarf monthly and I'm left wondering if this new mag will be something completely different.
I suppose in reality I should wait and see before passing judgement. Let's wait and see.

As I understand it, the monthly magazine is just pictures (lol, no change) and will be widely available in magazine outlets.

The weekly magazine will only be available from GW so you subscribe or you [sneaky plan]visit your local GW weekly[/sneaky plan] in order to get a copy and attracted by the new shinies of spreading new releases weekly you make an impulse purchase and buy some models to go with the great rules/tactics/bat reps/columns that the weekly magazine will contain.

And now your monthly magazine cost is £10.40 (on average) + the cost of the monthly mag (if you have a hankering for pictures).

Cunning no?

Yes we will be stocking the weekly magazine White Dwarf, its contents will be mainly new releases which are now going to be weekly and not all at the start of the month. RRP for this is £2.40. This magazine is only available from Games Workshop and independent stockists.

The monthly magazine "Warhammer Visions" will contain a lot more pages than the weekly magazine and have a completely different content. It wont contain any new releases but it will have painting tips and tutorials for models released in the previous months White Dwarf mag/mags. Example The first Warhammer Visions mag will have Tyranids as its main feature or so I am led to believe. This will be priced at £7.50

Both will be carried in shop.
