10MM buildings

Postby timewizard » Fri Dec 19, 2014 6:58 pm

These are some 10MM buildings I did as a commission job for a client. They are 3/16" MDF and have card stock roofs. Went together very well and took paint nicely. I added curtains to the window openings and scratchbuilt some window boxes to give them a little more character.

I like these, but I'll be honest, the curtains don't work for me. These buildings look like they are the sort of thing that wouldn't have curtains, but shutters instead. Also, on some of them that have glass windows, the curtains look like they are on the outside of the glass.
What time period are these buildings going to be used for?

The client I made them for plays WWII era games in 10mm. The thickness of the MDF walls makes the curtains look a lot better in person since they are recessed so much. I took these shots dead on so they can be seen. From the side, the curtains aren't so obvious.

From those angles, they look much better.
