New to warhammer 40k

Postby Blazin_Bullets15 » Mon Dec 29, 2014 12:49 am

Hi, I'm really new to warhammer 40k but I've been watching a lot of videos on the game. I've been looking to start building a army (one model at a time) but I'm stuck between a couple options. I would like to know some tips about making a army ect. Plus I really don't know if I have a local shop where i can try the army out.
Factions I've been looking at:
Tau- love the way they look and how they play
Blood Angels- cool look on flyers and tanks
Eldar-love the look of the wraithgaurds and hemlock
Tryanids- Awesome miniatures and new drop pods (idk about their play style though)

Hello and welcome. My method for choosing an army is simple. Pick the one with the models you like. You'll have fun assembling and painting them that way. We can help you with specific army tips when you have chosen your force.

Tau are an awesome force to play with, they have some very nice models with kick ass rules. They are my go to army for competitive play. How ever they do lack a bit of out of the box customisation and can be difficult to make look unique. They make up for this though by looking awesome in any paint combo you can think of.

I personally think that every 40k player should have a Space Marine army at some point they have the best model support and a wealth of background that'll keep you reading for years. I have Blood Angels as well as Tau. The problem with Marines is that they are easy to use but because so many people have them most players are well practiced against them making for much tougher games.
What, no image sigs!

I would agree with Angelwing but start with the codex and then write out yourself a core force of about 2000 points (maybe more or less depending on your budget/time) that way you know what exactly to buy to give yourself balance and an idea of how the army play before adding in new units. This is how I did it when I came back to 40k but now I have nearly 7000 points of Chaos xD
