2012 Quarter 3 Project Log For Everyone

Postby Angelwing » Fri Aug 03, 2012 2:26 am

Noticed we don't have a quarter 3 log and it's been a month already!
Gaming wise I've sprayed 16 gaunts with devourers and applied the first ink wash. And thats it.
On the other hand I've done several photoshoots and built a replacement shed. Also included in my Glo pod burner (currently eating the old fence panels).

I'm going all slaanesh at the mo.

I need to repair bossman, as he got trodden on, wings came off, wants re-basing and general (warlord) tidying up.
Got 5x sonics + pw+ doom siren champ done, so that's 3 squads (berzerkers, minus symbols, with 2nd ed sonics).

6 sonic terms done way back, so I'm a bit perturbed about no codex entry for them.
6 chosen done (2nd ed "tiny geezers"), but I have 6 more and will wait to see how best to build them, but am grinding my way through those spiky back packs.

Won 10 seekers on e-bay, but they are a bit down the to do list.

Then, might go back to my eldar roots, as I have slowly been snapping up some bargains and now have ...
19 dire avengers (already have 20).
10 fire dragons (have 10).
10 dark reapers (have 5).

I've completed a full Tac Squad and full Assault Squad with Rhinos for my BA. The Assault Squad also has magnetic jump packs.
The Tac squad and It's ride I had finnished well in 2nd quarter, but couldn't post pics. I now have a way to post pics, I just need to get of my fat lazy @$$ and do it.

Now I'm working on the Dev squad that most of you know about. I bought a set of legs from AnvilIndustries as suggested by Herne I think it was. Good call man, they are brilliant. GW need to take note, that is how resin models should be made. No holes, no warping, no mid cast pieces, not even any mould lines. Very minimal clean up and mould release already removed before they arrived to me. My only crit would be the legs are a fraction shorter than GW marine legs. And that's not even really a crit.

Pics soon I promise.

The Mantic Open Day is on the 29th September and all Pathfinders have to take their army progress along so far so I'll be doing that mostly. I'm on holiday for a couple of weeks soon so will be taking painting with me to try and catch up.

I've been selling off my Necron stuff but might paint up the remaining marine bits I have plus add one or two new daemon bits. I've not played a proper game of 6th ed yet though.

Slow coach.. your mission for this quarter is to play it, especially after I wrote all the gumph.
Can't have you organising our autumn meetup and not knowing how to play can we? :angel7 :angel7

Organising our meet-up?

I played a "game" with a handful of models thrown on the table on Wednesday night with BDA explaining some of the rules changes. That's as far as I've got though.

I'd forgotten all about a meet-up. When was it again?

Prior to this thread stunty created an awesome monster of 3 + forums sponsorship and professional tournament.. to which I pointed out you lot might not really want that..which slammed breaks on his (rather well thought out) plans.

So yeah..something Matt (creative play, forum control) and Stunty (man on the scene, contacts and whatnot).. seems to be a lot better than pretending nige (or I)will do it.

Derailing this thread somewhat, but..

I don't think I'll have time to organise anything. I've got too much going on for Mantic at the moment with events either side of that date and also trying to organise something around then anyway in preparation for a series of tournaments next year.

Great looking B angels!
Ah yes, 6th ed. Played a handful of games so far. Its really a case of getting along with wound allocation, random charges and what not at the moment. We haven't used any fliers and keep forgetting all about overwatch, challenges etc. I also instantly forget which warlord trait I've rolled. It probably doesn't help that the tyranids are resting and I've rolled out the battle sisters and I'm trying to learn their WD codex rules at the same time.
I also don't own a 6th ed rulebook yet. I wasn't happy with the quality and the sheer size of the big book after examining a friends copy, so I'll hold off and see what the boxset mini book looks like.

Argh.. those blood angels, I could have coped, then I saw that the chevrons went around the sheaves (?) of the chainswords perfectly. :sad5 :sad5

I was nearly going to pick up a paint brush again. :fisticon

Lol KMB. What's stopping you?
Thanks for the comments guys :)

I'm in a similar boat as Angelwing. I haven't even held a copy of 6th yet. As with everything GW, I think it's way over priced, especially as I only get to play once in a blue moon. I'll wait till the box set rule book goes on eBay.

Howdy folks. Not made much progress on the Devs. (bit burned out with red) Anywho, while in town I found this little beaut in a Charity shop for £1.50! Thinking of kit bashing it into Guard allies. More pics on my blog.

Someone elses project log (now with added GT!!) split posts

Postby Spack » Thu Aug 09, 2012 2:30 pm

I've been tinkering with the model train again today - finally got a reasonably priced Hornby train to use as a basis for the train, although it's a bit longer than the German loco would have been so I've extended the loco and tender shells to fit. Put together a card prototype today and it fits nicely, although did need a little tweaking at the front end to stop the pistons and front bogey from getting stuck.
