Yup - Most of my build was logged in this thread project-logs/stu-s-red-scorpions-thunderhawk-build-t4276.html

Your idea for the engines looks cracking so far - and a lot easier to source than the pod racer ones that I've used. Between me and my brother we've managed to grab four sets in the past nine months or so, averaging about 6 quid a set.

I've a few things I would do differently with the batch Im starting in new year, but will be putting together a more complete log + guide. Something I promised aaaaages ago (motivation has once again been found!)

Will be keeping a close eye on your progress here too ;)

How many T'hawks are you building? 0-o

I've just skimmed through your thread (will read in detail after). And I'm amazed at the level of detail you've put in! I just hope mine looks half as good.

I've cut the shells (main body) for another 4 in total, plus one that will be the base for my bro-in-law's FundaOrk! The plan for the ones Im building are one will be Imperial Fists for my bro, one Grey Knights for Lis, a Blood Angel Successor for my bro-in-law and another for me. We figured that the production line approach I took with the first one would work just as well doing them en masse! I must admit that having larger sheets of plasticard will make things much easier. The last one was a nightmare to build the main body.

If I'm honest, when you see mine in the flesh, there isn't that much to the detail - it's all fairly simple geometric shapes layered up in panels :) Based on what I've seen of your painting and modelling I've no doubt yours will look brilliant :)

So that'll be 6?... including the 1 you already have? You're nuts, lol. To be fair though, I know what you mean about production lining. I'm actually building 2 side by side. 1 for my Blood Angels and one for my friends Grey Knight, but he'll be painting it himself. He also said he'd do the weapons as he wants Psicannons.

You mean exactly like all GW's space marine vehicles? Lol.

I doubt I'll do much different to that either to be honest.

Technically 6 yeah, but the work I've done on the FundaOrk is done, bro in law is detailing it with his ork gubbins ;) That leaves me 4 to work on, which hopefully wont be too bad - the only bit that I'm dreading is the front and side Aquilas, although my brother has done some green stuff casting / pressing in the past, so it may be that I involve him in that stage of things :)

I'm pondering the idea of roping a friend of a friend with a laser-cutter in too, that way I can draw the details in illustrator and have him cut them out. Kinda takes away from the "I built that!" sense of achievement though.

Know what you mean about the details. When you take a step back and look at things properly, there isnt much there really! :)
